World Health Organization has declared the recent Novel Corona Virus, COVID-19 as Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) which has affected 216 Countries / Territories including till date. WHO has characterized COVID-19 as a Pandemic on 11th March 2020. In this context, Karnataka State has strengthened all Surveillance and containment measures against the spread of infection and prevent morbidity and mortality.

Home Secretary, Government of India, has issued advisory on the utilization of Online Dashboard namely, National Migrant Information System (NIMS) for capturing the 1 information on movement of migrants and for better inter-state co-ordination, developed by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). (Ref. No D.O.40-10/2020-DM-I (A) Dated: 16.05.2020).

In continuation to the efforts towards Covid-19 containment activity in the State, The Chief 2 Secretary, Govt. of Karnataka, has issued advisory on 7 special activities to be adopted under Surveillance activity in the Districts. (Ref. No. CS/381/2020 Dated: 16.05.2020).

Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Department of health and Family Welfare and Medical Education has issued circular on, Quarantine of Health Care Workers (HCW) posted 3 in COVID-19 facilities. (Ref .No. HFW 157 ACS 2020 Dated: 16.05.2020)

In continuation to the circular for opening of Health Care facilities, No. HFW 146 ACS 2020 Dated: 08.05.2020. Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Department of health and Family Welfare and Medical Education has issued circular regarding Quarantine of Health 4 Care Workers (HCW) with High risk exposure and Low risk exposure, posted in Non-COVID facilities. (Ref. No. HFW 158 ACS 2020 Dated:16.05.2020)

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services (Emergency 5 Medical relief Division) has issued advisory on “Preparedness and response to COVID-19 in Urban Settlements”. (Ref. No. Letter Dated 16.05.2020).

On 16.05.2020:  31 Fever Clinics of BBMP, in the day 185 people and till date 8689 people have been screened. 6  532 Fever Clinics of State, in the day 12750 people and till date 410223 people have been screened.  104 Fever Clinics of Private Hospital and Medical Colleges were operationalized and the day 1992 people and till date 37686 people have been screened.

Home Quarantine Enforcement Squad have quarantined 104 persons in Institutions on 7 16.05.2020 based on the complaints received from public & totally till date 2009 have been shifted from home Quarantine to institutional quarantine for violation of directions.

The positive cases and suspects hospitalized in the designated hospitals and quarantined persons will be staying there for a minimum period of 14 days or till the successive samples of the positive case are proved negative or as per the treating physicians advice. This long 8 duration of stay in isolation requires a mental booster for keeping oneself calm & quiet. Foreseeing this Department has arranged for Mental Health Counseling of such patients and contacts. 2268 sessions were held on 16.05.2020 and so far 89563 numbers of counseling sessions have been held.

Page 8 of 9 To spread Awareness and Effective Communication on COVID-19, Ministry of Health and 9 Family Welfare, Govt. of India has lunched “Aarogya Setu” Mobile App on 09.04.2020. Application can be downloaded from Google Play store and App store (Apple).

Minority Welfare, Waqf and Hajj Department, Govt. of Karnataka has issued Order for suspension of congressional prayers (Salat) and guidelines for Ramadan in The 11 Masjids/Darghs due to COVID-19 upto 03-05-2020. (No. MWD/2/MDS/2020, Dtd: 16-04-20).

Appeal to Doctors has been issued by Hon’ble Chief Minister to give missed call to 12 080-47192219 or signup at https://forms.gle/TPbU7eZgazdxG9gS9 to volunteer for COVID- 19 Tele-Medicine facility and to help the Government.

“Corona Watch” Mobile App can be downloaded from https://covid19.karnataka.gov.in. In 13 this app you can see the spots visited by positive patients up to 14 days prior to testing positive. Also it shows the nearest First Respondent Hospitals and Helpline numbers.

During the COVID-19 lockdown period, for assisting public on fever, cold, cough & 14 respiratory problems a unique helpline Number 14410 called “Apthamitra” has been started by Government of Karnataka.

210 lines have been reserved for receiving calls of COVID-19. On 16.05.2020, 6588 calls have been received. Appeal to Public: Any person who has returned from COVID-19 affected Country or has been in personal contact with such person must remain in Home Isolation for 14 days from arrival in India irrespective of having any symptoms or not. Also, should self-notify to nearest Government Hospital or free call “Aptamitra” Helpline 14410. Maintain personal hygiene, use tissue paper/handkerchief while coughing or sneezing, frequently wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer and avoid attending mass social gatherings.
