No small feat ...... Transforming an icon COM . S L A D N A V O G

• In June 2010, the Board of Regents of the University of Idaho approved the institution’s

WWW. proposal to move forward with plans to trans- form the iconic ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center by giving the nod to construction and other improvements to enhance the event experience in the Dome. These enhance- ments will be privately funded. • With earlier authorization from the Regents, the university had completed contracts with the architect and initiated the design phase. The university has an overall fundraising goal for this project of $6.7 million. Private funds raised to date, including cash and pledges, exceed $6.8 million. • In addition, the University has approval from the Regents to finish the final phase of life safety work in the Kibbie Dome, which includes replacement of the east end wall. • Work to be undertaken during late 2010 and 2011 includes: • Construction on the east end wall, as the second phase of life safety upgrades, which will begin in early December 2010, following the end of the football season. • Construction on the new north side media and operations box, which will begin in early December 2010, following the end of the football season. Flexibility must be factored in if the Vandals are again bowl-eligible. • Construction on the south side new premium seating area, suites and club is expected to begin in mid-March follow- ing the end of the 2011 Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival and around the time that the 2011 varsity season begins. • Construction on these projects is expected to be substantially complete by July 30, 2011.
