LET’S MAKE A DEAL •Last night, the Sabres acquired Matt Moulson, a first-round pick in 2014 and a second-rounder pick in 2015 from the in exchange for Thomas Vanek. •The gives the Sabres 17 first- and second-round draft picks from the 2012-2015 drafts. The (multiple times in the 1970s and 1980s) are the only team in NHL history to use at least 16 first- and second-round selections in a four-year span. •Moulson, selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth round (263rd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, made his NHL debut with Los Angeles in 2007-08, but had been with the Islanders since 2009-10. Since joining the Islanders, Moulson hasscored 118 goals, ranking 10th among all NHL players in that stretch. •Vanek, selected by the Sabres fifth overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft,leaves the Sabres ranked in the top 15 in franchise history in games played (15th), goals (5th), assists (13th) and points (10th).

RUFF’S RETURN Dallas head coach Lindy Ruff will return to Buffalo tonight for his first head coaching matchup with the team he spent 10 seasons playing for and 15 seasons coaching. Ruff last faced the Sabres as an assistant coach for the on March 22, 1997, a 3- 2 Panthers win in Sunrise.

THE STARS DON’T SHINE IN BUFFALO The Sabres have gone 6-0-1 (one tie) in their last seven home games against the Stars. Dallas has not won a regular season game in Buffalo since Oct. 7, 1997, when they won 4-2 in Lindy Ruff’s first home game as head coach of the Sabres. The Sabres’ best home- winning streak against the Stars franchise was a nine-game streak from Oct. 29, 1972 to Jan. 18, 1976.

FRESH FACES Nikita Zadorov scored his first NHL goal on his first career shot on Wednesday vs. BOS, becoming the second-youngest player (18 years, 191 days) –and the youngest defenseman –in Sabres history to score a goal. Rasmus Ristolainen scored his first goal Friday at FLA. According to Elias Sports Bureau, this made them the first Sabres duo to score their first NHL goals in consecutive games since Mike Ryan (3/2/07 vs. MTL) and Nathan Paetsch (3/3/07 at TOR) and the first Sabres defensemen to accomplish this feat since Mike Boland (3/10/79 at ATL) and Ken Breitenbach (3/11/79 vs. ATL).

YOUTH MOVEMENT With teenage rookies Zemgus Girgensons, Mikhail Grigorenko and Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita Zadorov on the roster, the Sabres have become the first NHL team since 1995-96 to dress four teenagers during the course of a season. That year, the Sabres (Jay McKee, Martin Biron, Wayne Primeau, Vaclav Varada, Curtis Brown) joined Florida (4) and Winnipeg (6) as the last teams to dress at least four teenagers in a season.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, the Sabres have become the first team to dress four teenagers in a single game since March 30, 1996, when Winnipeg dressed four 19-year-olds (Shane Doan, Chad Kilger, Deron Quint and Oleg Tverdovsky) in a 5-2 loss to Detroit. The only time the Sabres have ever dressed four teenagers simultaneously was in the 1982-83 season, when forwards Dave Andreychuk and Paul Cyr and defensemen Phil Housley and Hannu Virta all played in 21 games together.

BUF-DAL CONNECTIONS BUF C Steve Ott spent 10 seasons (2002-2012) as a member of the Dallas Stars. Drafted by Dallas in the first-round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft (25th overall), Ott compiled 220 points (85+135) and 1,170 penalty minutes over 566 career games with the franchise.

DAL HC Lindy Ruff served as HC of the Sabres for 14-plus seasons (1997-2013), compiling a record of 571-432-162 in 1,165 games. Ruff is the Sabres’ all-time franchise leader in wins, guiding the team to eight postseason appearances, including a trip to the 1999 Final. He was awarded the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s top coach in 2006. Ruff also played for the Sabres from 1979- 89, appearing in 608 games, recording 285 points (102+183) and serving as team for three seasons.

DAL AC James Patrick spent seven seasons (2006-2013) as an AC for the Sabres. He also spent six seasons with the Sabres as a player (1998-2004) and registered 74 points (23+51).

BUF AC Teppo Numminen played with the Dallas Stars in 2003-04. Numminen appeared in 62 games with the Stars, tallying 17 points (3+14). DAL D Stephane Robidas and DAL G Dan Ellis were also members of the club during this season.

BUF D Jamie McBain was teammates with Ellis for the during the 2012-13 season.

BUF D Tyler Myers and DAL C Jamie Benn were teammates with the (WHL) during the 2008-09 season.

Myers was born in Houston, TX.

McBain played with DAL LW Erik Cole for the Carolina Hurricanes from 2009-2011. DAL LW Ray Whitney was a member of the team as well in 2009-10.

Ott and Whitney played together for Team Canada at the 2010 World Hockey Championship.

BUF G Ryan Miller was also teammates with Cole for Team USA at the 2006 Olympics.

Miller and DAL C Shawn Horcoff played together at State University during the 1999-00 season.

BUF LW Marcus Foligno and DAL C Cody Eakin both represented Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championship held in Buffalo.

Foligno (104th overall)and DAL LW Lane MacDermid (112th overall) were both selected in the fourth-round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
