In addition, we stand ready to provide any additional information that will assist the Commission as it considers how best to implement each of the suggestions we set forth below. Overview As described in prior submissions to the CFTC,2 PIMCO is registered with the CFTC as a commodity pool operator (“CPO”) and commodity trading advisor (“CTA”) and is also registered as an investment adviser with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. As of June 30, 2017, PIMCO managed approximately $1.61 trillion in total assets, and approximately $435 billion in CPO assets, on behalf of millions of individuals and thousands of large institutions in the United States and globally, including state retirement plans, unions, university endowments, corporate defined contribution and defined benefit plans, and pension plans for teachers, firefighters and other government employees.
