  • Title: Need to Observe 128Th Birth Anniversary of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, the Founder of All India Freedom Fighters Samittee
an> Title: Need to observe 128th birth anniversary of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, the founder of All India Freedom Fighters Samittee. SHRI BHARTRUHARI MAHTAB (CUTTACK): Madam, Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh is a hallowed name in the annals of Freedom Struggle of India. When we deliberate on the struggle for freedom of 20th Century under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, the name of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh is a glorious example. He was a stalwart in organising people to rise against the British authority, and had declared and formed an independent Government in Afghanistan before Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose formed Azad Hind or Independent India during the Second World War. He was instrumental to organise the freedom fighters under the aegis of All India Freedom Fighters' Samiti to look after the welfare and interest of the freedom fighters and was the founder of All India Freedom Fighters' Samiti that came into existence in 1969. Later Madam Indira Gandhi gave Samman Pension to the freedom fighters from 1969. As a college student, I had the occasion of meeting him, when organisations like All India Freedom Fighters' Samiti was organizing freedom fighters' sammelan, as a worker, as a swechchasevi. He breathed his last in 1979. He was a raja by birth, but he gave away everything to the nation, including land to the Aligarh Muslim University. It is in fitness of things that this country should observe his birth anniversary in a befitting manner. An attempt should also be made to explore Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh's deeds and bring to light those that have been forgotten.

  • Murshan Naresh Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh Thenua” Remembering on His 127Th Birth Anniversary
“Murshan Naresh Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh Thenua” remembering on his 127th birth anniversary (1st December 1886) A grand salute to First President of Interim Government of India in Exile made in Kabul, by Murshan Naresh Raja Mahendra Pratap (popularly known as Jat Peshwa), in 1916 during first world war. He was a great revolutionary freedom fighter, patriot, social reformer, humanist and votary of one World Government, who called upon the NRI's to become united for Indian freedom. Due to hi s revolutionary ideas he had good relation with Lenin and other anti-British forces. He was first Indian ever to garner the collective support of anti-British forces in the same way as Neta Ji Subhasha Chandra Bose got during 2nd world war. In 1918 he met Kaiser Wilhelm 2 of Germany. In 1919 met V. I. Lenin on the way to Russia. In 1929 raja ji launched the famous "World Federation" from Berlin. Later on Raja ji emerged as the biggest functionary and prime resource behind staunching the Neta Ji Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army (INA) in Singapore. Perhaps he and neta ji are the two seul stalwarts of pre-Independent India, who fought for Indian Freedom by being out of nation and both were declared as breachers of faith of British India Govt. Raja ji had become a big menace for the foreign rule in India. The British Government of India declared a reward on his head, attached his entire estate and declared him a fugitive. Another reason it makes his remembrance special for NH that he was the "Damad" of my home princely state i.e.

  • Indian Freedom Fighters in Central Asia (1914-1939)
Zahid Anwar INDIAN FREEDOM FIGHTERS IN CENTRAL ASIA (1914-1939) The people of subcontinent considered national freedom precious asset and at the out set of British imperialism in India they embarked on a voyage to get back their cherished freedom. Their aim was one and that was freedom, but people with different bent of mind used different means to achieve that goal, some opted for constitutional means others for outright arm and struggle against imperialism. On the eve of First World War, the Muslims of British India were at the horns of dilemma; on the one hand British rulers sought their help in the war while on the other their co-religionists Turks were in the opposite camp along with Germany against Britain. The entry of Turkey in the War in November 1914 on the side of Germany roused a widespread Pan-Islamic and nationalist sentiments among the millions of Muslims in South Asia including Afghanistan. The Sultan of Turkey, who was the successor of Khalifa and the head of Islamic world in the eyes of orthodox Muslims, wrote a letter to the Amir of Afghanistan asking him to proclaim a crusade against the imperialists and not to refrain from announcing a Holy War (Jihad) against Britain and instigating the frontier tribes against (British) India.1 This news reached the subcontinent that the Sultan had declared war and that he had also asserted that this war was a Jihad. The famous Egyptian Pan-Islamist, Abdul Aziz Shawesh was appointed by the committee of Union and Progress to work against the Allies.

  • The Indian Revolutionaries and the Bolsheviks - Their Early Contacts, 1918-1922*
THE INDIAN REVOLUTIONARIES AND THE BOLSHEVIKS - THEIR EARLY CONTACTS, 1918-1922* JBy ARuN CooMER BosE INDIAN REVOLUTIONAJRIES USUALLY WORKED ON THE ASSUMPTION "ENG· land's difficulty is Indi;a's opportunity,"1 from which it followed that England's enemies are India's friends. So, Germany was their natural friend and patron du.. ing World War I. An Indian Independence Committee was formed there to act as a liaison between the German Government and the I ndian revolutionaries in di:ffierent · parts of the world, and the former spent over ten million marks to organise a revolt in India. By the end of 1916; however, their efforts had failed, and it was clear that nothing more could be done with German help. Naturally, some among the Indian revolutionaries began looking around for other possible sources of assistance. After .the March Revolution in Russia, Mahendra Pratap, President of the Provisional Government of Free India at Kabul, sent an emis- sary to Russian Turkis;tan, in the hope of some favourable response. But, he was told that the Kerensky Government would pursue the Czarist foreign ·policy of alliance with their western allies. However, the situation changed when the Bolsheviks came to power. They were reported to have invited Mahendra Pratap to visit Russia, and he went to Moscow in March 1918, on his way to Berlin. He had an inter· view even with Trots;ky. But, the Bolsheviks themselves were then engaged in a bitter struggle for survival, and were in no position to spare any assistance for the India revolutionaries. Mahendra Pratap went to Germany after a s.hort stay in Moscow,11 obviously not impressed with the Bolsheviks a.s possible friends of any particular value.

Journal of Political Studies, Vol.20, Issue - 1, 2013, 159:177 A Voice from the Margins: An Appraisal of Ubaid-Allah Sindhi’s Mahabharat Sarvrajia Party and its Constitution Tanvir Anjum♣ Abstract Ubaid-Allah Sindhi is among those very few political thinkers and activists of the twentieth-century India who were initially associated with the traditional theological seminaries but their political vision was marked by liberalism and open- mindedness.
