WELCOME TO THE NOWY TOMYÂL DISTRICT TOURIST DIVERSITY OF THE NOWY TOMYÂL DISTRICT The Nowy Tomyśl District is an important economic centre of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, an area open to investors, with an excellent educational offer – however, these are only some of its assets. Thanks to the comprehensive development of tourism and agrotourism the district has been able to protect its rural lifestyle, cultivate local traditions and preserve intact local Dutch buildings. A varied landscape, picturesque palaces and hotels, regional and traditional dishes as well as many additional attractions and activities will make your stay for an unforgettable experience. LOCATION The location of the Nowy Tomyśl District is very favourable: it is located along the East- West route, close to the Poznań – Ławica international airport. Both the modernised railway line Paris – Berlin – Warsaw– Moscow and the national road no. 2, which is a part of the international road E-30 (Berlin- Moscow) run across the district. Hiking trails: The yellow trail (26.8 km) Nowy Tomyśl – Paproć – Chojniki – Szarki – Kuźnica – Tuchorza – Jelonek – Nowe Tłoki – Wolsztyn The red trail (57.5 km) Osetna Młyn – Zawada – Zachodzko – Miedzichowo – Łomnica – Przychodzko – Strzyżewo – Czarny Dwór – Dąbrówka Wlkp. – Bronikowo – Chlastawa – Kosieczyn – Nowa Wieś – Nowa Wieś Zbąska – Perzyny – Przyprostynia – Zbąszyń (Seasonal Youth Hostel) The blue trail (56 km) Pszczew – Wrony – Silna Nowa – Królewiec – Jabłonka Tartak – Trzciel – Prądówka – Strzyżewo – Zbąszyń – Nądnia – Perzyny – Nowa Wieś – Nowa Wieś Zbąska – Grójec Wielki – Chobienice – Wąchabno – Kopanica BICYCLE TOURISM 240 km of routes, running across the most picturesque and attractive corners of the Nowy Tomyśl District have been prepared for bicycle lovers. Bicycle routes: The red route Opalenica – Nowy Tomyśl (app. 26,3 km) – the hop and wicker route. The route mainly runs across the forest, along narrow sealed and unsealed roads which might become sandy or slimy. The blue route Nowy Tomyśl – Lewice (app. 35 km) – the route of the Bolewice pine tree. The route starts along the streets and the bicycle path and later along the forest paths some sections of which might become seasonally sandy or muddy. The black route Nowy Tomyśl – Zbąszyń (app. 25.5km) – the Dutch buildings route. The route mainly runs along forest and field paths. Beautiful forests and rural landscape with interesting historic Dutch buildings are waiting for the cyclists. The green route Opalenica – Lwówek (app.32 km) – the Emilia Sczaniecka route. It mainly runs across the fields, along sealed and unsealed roads. The cyclists may see such attractions as historic palaces and churches, memorials and nature reserves. The yellow route Nowy Tomyśl – Porażyn Station (app. 23 km) – the palace and castle route The route initially runs along Nowy Tomyśl streets and later along the bicycle path across the fields, then for a short section along the sealed road and finally along forest paths. The green route around Błędno Lake (app. 20 km) – the Błedno Lake route. The route runs along sealed roads with short sections of unsealed and cobbled roads. The yellow route Zbąszyń – Miedzichowo (app. 19 km) – the Route of Wielkopolska insurgents. The route initially runs along Zbąszyń streets, later along the sealed road leading to Nowy Dwór and finally across the forest along unsealed roads. The red route Lwówek – Węgielnia (app. 31,7 km). The route initially runs along town streets, later along sealed roads leading to Konin and Linia and finally along field paths up to the blue route Nowy Tomyśl – Lewice. The green route Miedzichowo – Jabłonka Stara (app. 12.8 km) – the Route of Pszczew Landscape Park The route initially runs along the sealed road and later across the forest along the unsealed roads. The black connecting route Wąsowo –Brody (app. 9.5km). The route runs across fields and forests on a hilly terrain. WATER TOURISM Recently the water tourism offer of the Nowy Tomyśl District has been extended. Błędno Lake in the Zbąszyń municipality offers excellent conditions for sailing and canoeing (including water sports equipment rental). A canoeing rally down the Obra river is highly recommended. In the summer Błędno Lake hosts European Motor Water Sports Championship. EQUINE TOURISM A variety of services offered by agritourist farms attracts many tourists, especially those who love horses and who are interested in equine tourism. Many farms in the district specialize in horse riding and carriage trips, they also have many interesting activities for children. Safety during this active form of rest is guaranteed by professional instructors. Horse riding is offered by the horse riding centre “Jansówka” and agritourist farms, such as: “Penaty”, “Klimkowa Osada”, “Rancho Colorado”, “Chata pod Żurawiem” . Horse riding routes: – the horse riding route in the Wąsowo forest administration unit (in the vicinity of Wąsowo village) – the horse riding route starting close to “Smolarnia” forester´s lodge in the direction of Bolewice, and further to the interpretive trail “Bolewice Forest” – the horse riding route from Kuźnice Lake through Grubsko to the area in the vicinity of Jastrzębsko Stare. EDUCATIONAL TRAILS The educational trails marked up in the district offer a chance to have a great time and at the same time learn interesting things.
