Tom Miller led a group of Slow Spokes to Tiger Stadium on Opening Day—and he gave the Tigers an idea. They are having a special bike-to-the-ballpark event on Sunday, April 22nd and using a picture of the Slow Spokes in their advertisement. I don’t think we’re getting any royalties though. Crime Report—Egg-McMugging. Earlier this month, one of our Slow Spokes was robbed coming out of a McDonald’s in St. Clair Shores. She was not harmed, but has not yet got her purse back as it is being held for evidence. No, the 2 people at left are not suspects in the crime. They were just a couple of party animals at the ball park on opening day. WINDSOR Twin Skylines Snap Shot of Windsor Once known as Ford City – proud history in auto manufacturing Canada’s southernmost city, bordering the USA and directly opposite Detroit Major international gateway and busiest border crossing in Canada Home to University of Windsor and St. Clair College “We have a spectacular Intelligent Community of the waterfront with uninterrupted Year award in 2010 access – it is one of our jewels” Downtown Windsor is beginning to capitalize on its strengths, its exemplary institutional sector, its entertainment functions and its natural assets, to emerge as a more vital core. In recent years, the City has played a critical role in strengthening the downtown and succeeded in building strong partnerships with key stakeholders to propel these revitalization efforts forward. Despite these important gains, downtown Windsor has some way to go to reach its potential. It faces significant challenges in terms of addressing visible vacancies along its main shopping streets, attracting new businesses, growing its job base, filling its office inventory and attracting more residents. Stakeholders in downtown Windsor will need to continue to work together to address these challenges and ensure that downtown Windsor can keep moving forward along the road to revitalization. 1 Downtown Windsor Timeline 1701 – Sieur de Lamonthe establishes Fort Pontchartrain, the area’s first European settlement. 1749 – Windsor is settled by the French as “Petite Cote,” originally a small Jesuit mission. It is the oldest continually inhabited settlement in Canada west of Montreal. 1792 – The Duff Baby House is built by Alexander Duff as 1794 – The settlement of Sandwich is founded following a fur trade post.

Hurst Mayor, City of Windsor “The organization of Polish Week in Windsor is a great honour for us and I really hope that this event will contribute to a closer partnership between our two cities: Windsor and Lublin.” Andrzej Pruszkowski Mayor, City of Lublin FOREWORD This is a short account of Polish Week in Windsor 2002. The authors describe nearly twenty different events, which took place in our city, during 17-23 November 2002. Judging by the comments, reported by the press and on television, it seems that Polish Week has entered the history books, not only as one of the greatest spectacles, ever organized by Windsor’s Polonia, but also as the most fascinating Polish event of 2002 in the whole of Canada. The main purpose was to bring information about Poland and Windsor’s twin city, Lublin, to the attention of the citizens of Windsor. This objective was achieved. New contacts were established and two international agreements signed. The first agreement was between the Lublin Business School and Windsor’s St.
