2004 - 2017 The Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, The Ohio State University Hired as Graduate Research Assistant in 2004; Retired in 2017 as Senior Leadership (Director level) from grant- and University-funded, applied research institute that advances equity and opportunity for all.

Key achievements: Vulnerable Seniors Principal Investigator and Co-Author, Meeting the Challenges of an Aging Population with Success. Collaborated with faculty from the College of Social Work. Supported by The Columbus Foundation and The Osteopathic Heritage Foundations. In 2016, the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation awarded nearly two million dollars to seven local agencies targeting high-density, high-vulnerability senior populations identifed by the report. In 2017, the Isabelle Ridgway Foundation commissioned a follow-up study focusing on Franklin County’s African American seniors.

Food (In)Security Co-Principal Investigator, Mapping the Food Environment. Co-author of four academic publications. Member of core leadership committee, supporting an interdisciplinary group of OSU researchers and community stakeholders. The team was seeded with a $2500 Team Award from OSU’s Food Innovation Center (FIC) in 2011 & again in 2012. In 2013, the team received a $50,000 Innovation Initiative grant from the FIC to support the current project, which integrates a robust survey of food shopping behavior and health metrics into a GIS map of the fve zip-code local study area.

Housing Finance Policy Partner, coalition-based research and communication on housing fnance policy, including co-authorship of Making the Mortgage Market Work for America’s Families. Early funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation helped seed a civil rights and fair housing coalition in Washington, D.C., and supported the production of Rogers, Christy L. and powell, john a., Eds.: Where Credit is Due: Bringing Equity to Credit and Housing After the Market Meltdown (Lanham, MD: University Press of America, Inc., December 2013). Conference convener, with Dr. Jason Reece and john a. powell, Subprime Lending, Foreclosure and Race. This working conference attracted 175 attendees from around the country in 2008, just prior to the national recession and conservatorship of the GSEs.

Civic Engagement Project manager, framework for expanding civic engagement among non-traditional leaders and marginalized communities in Detroit, MI. Funded by W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Co- developed strategic “blueprints for change” with African American Leadership Forum leadership and co-consultants in the Twin Cities, Seattle, Portland and Des Moines. Funded by the Northwest Area Foundation. Managed the collaborative development of the “Shining the Light” advocacy and organizing framework with ISAIAH Minnesota. This resulted in a 1,600-person faith summit with MN Governor-elect Mark Dayton. 2010.

Equitable Revitalization Project co-manager, neighborhood revitalization research reports for The Columbus Foundation. These reports contributed to The Foundation’s decision to invest fve million dollars into equitable community revitalization in Weinland Park, Columbus. Since 2013, the Foundation has been working with the Annie E. Casey Foundation to support a family-

2 centered community change model in that neighborhood. Weinland Park is one of only three neighborhoods nationally to be selected by the Casey Foundation for this work.

Leadership and Organizational Development Kirwan representative to invitation-only meetings and workgroups, including Prioritizing Civil Rights in Federal Housing Policy, Washington, DC; Association of Black Foundation Executives Annual Meeting at the Council on Foundations and Annual Board Retreat; Greater Ohio Neighborhood Revitalization Task Force; Economic Policy Institute working group on Race, Ethnicity and the Economy, Washington, DC; etc. Strengthened relationships with College of Social Work, College of Public Health, OSU Outreach & Engagement, and Wexner Medical Center; expanded strong ties to United Way of Central Ohio and The Columbus Foundation. Developed inaugural partnership with the Ohio Historical Society. Facilitated strategic plan retreat for the Parsons Avenue Revitalization Corporation.

Assisted attorneys with all phases of arbitration, mediation and trial preparation for complex commercial litigation. 1999 - 2001 Lane Kendig, inc. Mundelein, IL Planner for national planning consulting frm. Assisted with zoning code development and review for municipalities nationwide. Verifed local development compliance with ordinance requirements through plan development review and inspections; provided reports to Plan Commissions; attended community meetings. 1998 - 1999 Futurity, Inc., Chicago, IL Associate for entrepreneurial research and design frm using emerging RS/GIS technologies. Co-produced fagship newsletter, “Futurity News,” recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects for “Excellence in Marketing and Communications” in Landscape Architecture magazine.
