Unfortunately for the Labour party, competence eludes them. Yesterday, Jeremy Corbyn was finally forced off the Brexit fence on which he has balanced ever since the referendum. It is now Labour policy to call for a second referendum on any deal (or a no-deal proposition) put forward by a Tory government and, crucially, Corbyn’s party would campaign to Remain. However, the Labour leadership stopped short of confirming what they would actually do if they found themselves in government. University of Oxford Research PropTech 3.0: the future of real estate PROPTECH 3.0: THE FUTURE OF REAL ESTATE WWW.SBS.OXFORD.EDU PROPTECH 3.0: THE FUTURE OF REAL ESTATE PropTech 3.0: the future of real estate Right now, thousands of extremely clever people backed by billions of dollars of often expert investment are working very hard to change the way real estate is traded, used and operated. It would be surprising, to say the least, if this burst of activity – let’s call it PropTech 2.0 - does not lead to some significant change. No doubt many PropTech firms will fail and a lot of money will be lost, but there will be some very successful survivors who will in time have a radical impact on what has been a slow-moving, conservative industry. How, and where, will this happen? Underlying this huge capitalist and social endeavour is a clash of generations. Many of the startups are driven by, and aimed at, millennials, but they often look to babyboomers for money - and sometimes for advice. PropTech 2.0 is also engineering a much-needed boost to property market diversity. Unlike many traditional real estate businesses, PropTech is attracting a diversified pool of talent that has a strong female component, representation from different regions of the world and entrepreneurs from a highly diverse career and education background. Given the difference in background between the establishment and the drivers of the PropTech wave, it is not surprising that there is some disagreement about the level of disruption that PropTech 2.0 will create.

  • The Award of Contracts for Additional Freight Capacity on Ferry Services
Memorandum to the House of Commons Committee of Public Accounts Department for Transport The award of contracts for additional freight capacity on ferry services FEBRUARY 2019 Our vision is to help the nation spend wisely. Our public audit perspective helps Parliament hold government to account and improve public services. The National Audit Office scrutinises public spending for Parliament and is independent of government. The Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG), Sir Amyas Morse KCB, is an Officer of the House of Commons and leads the NAO. The C&AG certifies the accounts of all government departments and many other public sector bodies. He has statutory authority to examine and report to Parliament on whether departments and the bodies they fund, nationally and locally, have used their resources efficiently, effectively, and with economy. The C&AG does this through a range of outputs including value-for-money reports on matters of public interest; investigations to establish the underlying facts in circumstances where concerns have been raised by others or observed through our wider work; landscape reviews to aid transparency; and good-practice guides. Our work ensures that those responsible for the use of public money are held to account and helps government to improve public services, leading to audited savings of £741 million in 2017.
