George Klein - Veteran of the famed 2nd Ranger Battalion on D-Day: the “Boys of Pointe du Hoc.” Ambassador Alan W. Lukens - Veteran of the 20th Armored Division in WWII and among the libera- tors of Dachau concentration camp in Germany, April 29, 1945. Later, U.S. Ambassador to the Congo. Elinor Otto - At age 95, was still working as a “Rosie the Riveter” - a job she had mostly held since WWII - in a C-17 airplane plant. Capstone Remarks Featuring: Colonel Anthony Wood (Ret)- Thirty year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, during his final tour in Vietnam was tasked with helping to lead the ecacuation of Saigon forty years ago. At the time of his retirement, was the only captain or colonel in any branch of the services to have twice been decorated with the nation’s second highest award - the Distinguished Service Medal. A Centennial of Service: 100 Years of the U.S. Navy Reserve Participants TBA Exclusive Event - Friday Evening Honoring U.S. & U.K. Veterans: A Special Reception at the British Embassy 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm (Buses depart Omni Shoreham Hotel at 6:00 PM) This special exclusive reception will recognize the long partnership between the United Kingdom and the United States, saluting those of the Greatest Generation of World War II to the generation that has served side by side in Afghanistan and Iraq. The reception will feature British and American food, drinks, and spirits. Special guests include wounded warriors from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Featuring: Lt. Col. Richard E. Cole - Co-pilot of Jimmy Doolittle on the legendary Doolittle Raid on Tokyo - the first attack on Japan follow- ing Pearl Harbor - April 18, 1942. Col. Clarence “Bud” Anderson - Triple-ace fighter pilot during two combat tours in the European Campaign of WWII, and member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame. Lt. General Charles “Chick” Cleveland - United States Air Force ace pilot in the Korean War, and president of the American Fighter Aces Association. VICTORY! The 70th Anniversary of the End of World War II Featuring: Col. Edward Shames - Started his service with I Co., 3rd Bn. 506th, becoming the first NCO in his battalion to receive a battlefield commission in Normandy. Was transferred to command 3rd Platoon of Easy Company - later known as the famed “Band of Brothers” - which he led until the end of the war. Additional participants TBA Keynote Remarks Featuring: Admiral Michelle J. Howard - 38th and current Vice Chief of Naval Operations. ADM Howard holds the distinction of being the first woman to hold the rank of four-star admiral in U.S. Naval history. The Medal of Honor Recipients of our nation’s highest military award. Featuring: CWO4 Hershel “Woody” Williams - The last living recipient of the Medal of Honor for valor during the Battle of Iwo Jima. Sgt. 1st Class Melvin Morris - Recipient of the Medal of Honor for valor in Vietnam. Sgt. 1st Class Morris is one of the “Valor 24” - 24 men among more than 6500 who, following a lengthy review, were selected to be upgraded to the Medal of Honor on March 18, 2014. Colonel Bruce P. Crandall - Recipient of the Medal of Honor for valor in the epic Battle of Ia Drang in Vietnam - 50 years ago, November, 1965. Capstone Remarks Featuring: Gen. Richard B. Myers, USAF (Ret) - 15th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2001-2005. The Last Ace Brig. Gen. R. Steve Ritchie, USAF (Ret) - The only Air Force “Ace” pilot from the Vietnam War, recipient of the Air Force Cross. Valor on the Front Lines Decorated and distinguished veterans from operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.     UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY FOrrESTAL LECturE SERIES LT JASON REDMAN, USN Founder and CEO SOF Spoken 7:30 p.m. September 2, 2015 AluMNI HALL LT JASON REDMAN, USN Founder and CEO SOF Spoken Lieutenant Jason Redman joined the Navy on September 11, 1992 and spent eight years as an enlisted SEAL. He completed three deployments throughout Central and South America and spent two years as a training instructor before being selected for the Seaman to Admiral Commissioning program in 2000. He attended Old Dominion University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in May 2004 and completing his time with the Hampton Roads Naval ROTC as Student Battalion Commanding Officer before he was commissioned as a Naval SEAL Officer. Over the next four years, Lieutenant Redman completed combat deployments in both Afghanistan and Iraq. On September 13, 2007, outside of Fallujah, Iraq, Lieutenant Redman’s Assault Team came under heavy machine gun and small arms fire and he was severely wounded in the ensuing firefight. While recovering at Bethesda Naval Medical Center, Redman authored and hung a bright orange sign on his door, which became a statement and symbol for wounded warriors everywhere. Lieutenant Redman is the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, the Purple Heart, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Combat Action Ribbons and the U.S. Army Ranger tab along with numerous other personal and unit awards. Redman retired from the Navy in 2013 and founded the Combat Wounded Coalition/Wounded Wear, a Non-Profit organization which supports combat wounded warriors and families of the fallen. He currently acts as the executive director of the organization and is also the founder and CEO of SOF Spoken, a speaking company which provides inspirational presentations on leadership, teamwork, and overcoming adversity for businesses, first responders, sports teams, and government organizations.

Texas fire service leaders had to adopt new mindsets, break traditional paradigms and develop new problem-solving skills. The fire service was asked to do many tasks outside the traditional model and we responded in force. I want to commend all the Texas departments that rose up to meet these new challenges Les Stephens and found ways to navigate in the ever-changing President, TFCA environments that we face. Fire Chief, San Marcos, TX The Texas Fire Chiefs Association also faced many challenges this past year. Members also stood in the gap to ensure the success of the organization. In the absence of an Executive Director, many members took on all manner of projects and tasks. Rolling up the sleeves and getting the work done is the hallmark of the Texas Fire Service.

    2015 Rocky Mountain Asphalt Conference & Equipment Show Speaker Bios Keynote Speaker LT Jason Redman LT Jason Redman was born in a small town in Mount Vernon, Ohio and attended schools in Ohio, North Carolina, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Florida before graduating from Lumberton High School in Southern North Carolina. He joined the Navy on September 11, 1992 and began his naval career at boot camp in Orlando, Florida. Jason spent his first two years in the Navy working as an Intelligence Specialist at Little Creek Amphibious Base, Virginia Beach, Virginia, home of the East Coast SEAL Teams. After working for and around the Teams, he tried out and was accepted for Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL training (BUD/S). Jason reported to BUD/S in January of 1995 and enjoyed a full year of friendly instructors, relaxing times on the beach, and endless nights under the Coronado moon before graduating with BUD/S class 202 in December of 1995. Jason set off on a whirlwind career, completing three deployments to South America where he conducted numerous Counter Drug missions throughout Colombia and Peru. He returned in December of 2000 to become an instructor for his SEAL Team’s Basic Land Warfare block of training. He spent the next year and a half teaching Marksmanship, Reconnaissance and Surveillance operations, and advanced communications. In August of 2000, Petty Officer 1st Class Redman was one of fifty naval enlisted members selected for the prestigious Seaman to Admiral Program. He began school at Old Dominion University in August of 2001 and became a member of the Old Dominion University Navy ROTC working his way up to the become the Student Battalion Commander in charge of the largest NROTC Battalion on the East Coast.
