Comedy Works Bringing Nationally Acclaimed Stand-Up Comedians to the Plaza Hotel & Casino Starting Sept FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 23, 2019 MEDIA CONTACT: Amy E. S. Maier, Faiss Foley Warren, [email protected], 702-904-0296 Comedy Works bringing nationally acclaimed stand-up comedians to the Plaza Hotel & Casino starting Sept. 12 Tom Green, Lisa Lampanelli and Tim Meadows among top-tier talent performing, ticket prices starting at $20 LAS VEGAS – Longstanding comedy club and entertainment company, The Comedy Works, will bring nationally acclaimed stand-up comedians and up-and-coming talent to the classic showroom at the Plaza Hotel & Casino Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights beginning Thursday, Sept. 12. The Comedy Works has been producing stand-up comedy events since 1981. It owns and operates comedy clubs, produces shows in theaters throughout the U.S, and guides the careers of a number of performers. Having worked with many all-time great comedians including Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen Degeneres, Robin Williams, Chris Rock, and Ray Romano, The Comedy Works is now owned by Tommy Nicchi who grew up in stand-up comedy given that he was just three years old when his father founded the company. The Comedy Works at the Plaza will offer shows Thursdays at 8 p.m., Fridays at 9 p.m., and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. with ticket prices starting at only $20. “We believe there has been a shortage of world class comedy on a regular basis in downtown Las Vegas, so we are very excited to partner with The Comedy Works and offer this to our customers now,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “Guests will laugh out loud and enjoy unforgettable performances they can’t see anywhere else in Las Vegas.” Nationally known comedians will take the stage in the Plaza’s beautiful, classic Vegas showroom featuring red velvet booth seating, a brand new digital QSC sound system, full bars and table cocktail service. The Comedy Works at the Plaza lineup includes many well-known comedians including: • September 12 – 14: Jim Florentine, best known for hosting seven seasons of VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show” and as a regular on The Howard Stern and the Opie & Anthony shows. He currently hosts his own program on Sirius XM and will be the headliner for The Comedy Works at the Plaza’s opening weekend. • September 26 – 28: Nick Di Paolo has performed on The Tonight Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Conan O’ Brien. He was twice nominated for an Emmy for his writing on HBO’s The Chris Rock Show and had three standup specials on Comedy Central and most recently the controversial “A Breath of Fresh Air.” • October 10 – 12: Tom Green, a comedian, actor, filmmaker, and talk show host known for his own unique brand of shock comedy who found mainstream prominence via his MTV show aptly titled “The Tom Green Show.” Green is also known for his roles in the films “Road Trip,” “Charlie's Angels,” and “Freddy Got Fingered.” • October 24 – 26: Fat Chance: An Evening of Conversation and Story with Lisa Lampanelli, which showcases the former insult comic at her new best. From her humorous storytelling to her lively Q&A with audience members, the no-holds-barred entertainer is truthful, vulnerable, and as hilarious as ever. From her food obsession to her physical transformation with the help of bariatric surgery more than six years ago to her compulsion to date the "junk food of men," Lisa, with the help of Frank Liotti, will tell all in a way never seen before. • November 14 – 16: Jamie Kennedy, a multi-faceted talent who found success as a stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer skyrocketed to fame with scene-stealing rants in Wes Craven's “Scream” and “Scream 2.” • January 9 – 11: Tim Meadows, one of the longest-running cast members of “Saturday Night Live” who crafted some of the series’ most memorable characters during his ten years on the popular late night show. Show tickets can be purchased online: https://www.plazahotelcasino.com/entertainment/the-comedy-works. February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. We strongly urge all Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer to VOTE UNION YES. • First-Run Smoking Presentations in U.S. Movies 1999-2006
First-Run Smoking Presentations in U.S. Movies 1999-2006 Jonathan R. Polansky Stanton Glantz, PhD CENTER FOR TOBAccO CONTROL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94143 April 2007 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Smoking among American adults fell by half between 1950 and 2002, yet smoking on U.S. movie screens reached historic heights in 2002, topping levels observed a half century earlier.1 Tobacco’s comeback in movies has serious public health implications, because smoking on screen stimulates adolescents to start smoking,2,3 accounting for an estimated 52% of adolescent smoking initiation. Equally important, researchers have observed a dose-response relationship between teens’ exposure to on-screen smoking and smoking initiation: the greater teens’ exposure to smoking in movies, the more likely they are to start smoking. Conversely, if their exposure to smoking in movies were reduced, proportionately fewer teens would likely start smoking. To track smoking trends at the movies, previous analyses have studied the U.S. motion picture industry’s top-grossing films with the heaviest advertising support, deepest audience penetration, and highest box office earnings.4,5 This report is unique in examining the U.S. movie industry’s total output, and also in identifying smoking movies, tobacco incidents, and tobacco impressions with the companies that produced and/or distributed the films — and with their parent corporations, which claim responsibility for tobacco content choices. Examining Hollywood’s product line-up, before and after the public voted at the box office, sheds light on individual studios’ content decisions and industry-wide production patterns amenable to policy reform.

&6 THE 0 RIO N • APR I L 2 5, 200 1 I ! " , " ..~ Green gets finger for film 't , ~ DANA BUCHANAN ' I:i CONTHIIIIJTING WlllTlJ1l This is a warning: If you are not a huge fan of Tom Green and his MTV show, and if you have not been waiting to see him in all his complete, uncensored grotesque glory, then do not sec "Freddy Got Fingered." Tom Green wrote, directed and stars in "Freddy Got Fingered," and his signature brand of comedy is slathered all over this mm. Green plays Gord Brody, a 28-year old slacker who finally leaves home (to his parents elation) to attempt to become a professional animator, only to return home disappointed. Instantly the antics begin in that strange unexplainable Tom Green way. Gord just docs weird (uncomfortably weird) stuff without much rhyme or reason. If you have never before seen, or wanted to sec, someone fondle animal genitalia (horse and elephant respectively), then you might be in for a shock, to say the least. The story line of Gord wanting to be a professional animator docs seem to make perfect sense. Gord is a child in a semi adult's body, and drawing cartoons fits the character perfectly. Gord goes to Los Angeles to try to sell his work by breaking into the office of an animation executive (Anthony Michael Hall). This scene is relatively funny as Gord confounds security with his "weirdness" (for lack of a better word) and manages to get to the office of the head honcho. Then of course, there is a lot of Green's usual bizarre physical comedy, which makes one wonder why the exec hasn't called security yet.
