Welcome to the year-end edition of CHASIN' the 10's Racing for 2018...

The 2018 season has come and gone and for Mitch and Jake Brown it was a season like no other.

Before the season began the family racing team had chosen not to limit their activities to the pursuit of a track or series championship but elected instead to compete at a few new venues and some old favorites south of the border and test their mettle against some of the finest 360 Sprint Car competitors from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, New York and Pennsylvania with an occasional return to the Southern circuit where they had competed successfully since Mitch broke into the winged open-wheel sport back in 2010 and Jake in first the 602 Crate Division before moving up to the 360s in 2016.

Just how that decision worked out is highlighted in this edition of Chasin' the 10s Racing- a race by race recap of the 2018 season.

A few things are certain about this past season... the team logged a lot of miles/kilometers and gained a lot of experience on the short track scene and received a warm welcome by track promoters, fellow competitors and race fans wherever they appeared.

What their plans are for 2019 is still to be determined but once they've had a chance to evaluate how 2018 turned out, you can bet they will be back on the Sprint Car trail racing as much if not more than they did this past season.

As we put the final touches on this year-end edition of our team newsletter we extend our SINCERE THANKS to Dale Calnan of Image Factor Media and Rod Henderson of Canadianracer.com along with Curtis Berleue Photography and J&T Photos for some of the photos appearing in this yearend publication as well as a tip of the hat to Greg Calnan of Image Factor Media for the fine design and updating of the

team's web site www.mitch brownracing.com.

And last but not least to our team sponsors who are recognized throughout this publication.

Until the next edition of CHASIN' the 10s RACING keep your eyes on the #10 and #1-10 website for updates to the team's plans and activities. Ken Spencer

Jake Leads Mitch to Checkered Flag at

Following a perplexing attempt to start the season May 18th at Ohsweken, Mitch and Jake Brown regrouped to officially launch their 2018 schedule a week later in Ohio as a lead-up to the US Memorial Day weekend.

On Friday May 25th at Limaland Raceway Park, Jake Brown finished third and Mitch fifth in the first heat then progressed to the A-Main where Jake finished tenth with Mitch four spots back.

The Saturday results at Fremont Speedway proved to be an early season highlight that saw Jake survive some early race restarts then outduel Lima, Ohio’s Max Stambaugh in a late race six lap battle through lapped traffic in the A-Main to capture his first major win on US soil.

Stambaugh and Jake brought the field to green for the 25 lap, $2,000 to win NRA A-Main with the Brantford, ON youngster grabbing the lead following a first lap caution before a lap could be scored. On the second attempt to start the race, Brown got the advantage over Stambaugh with a trio of other Ohio drivers, Devin Dobie, Butch Schroeder and Jared Horstman hot on his tail. But Horstman, who won the previous night at Limaland Motorsports Park, would flip after two laps were scored requiring a second restart.

Another caution on lap seven saw the pursuers close as Jake held Stambaugh, Dobie and his brother Mitch Brown at bay until he encountered heavy lapped traffic with eleven laps to go.

On the restart Stambaugh used a lapped car to take the lead on lap 17 but in the move he and Jake made contact causing the Ohio driver's left rear tire to lose air pressure. Dobie would pull to the infield seeking medical attention on lap 19 resulting from a broken power steering line and Stambaugh ducked into the pits to change the tire handing the lead back to Jake Brown and STRODES OUT FRONT BY A NOSE... opening the door for Mitch Brown to move into second. Stateside advertising for the team's long-time sponsor... it doesn't get On what appeared to be a final restart, Jake pulled away from his brother Mitch, but had to contend with yet another caution with three laps to go that gave Mitch a final shot at overtaking much better than this! his brother. But Jake executed a great restart and drove to the win over Mitch Brown, Schroeder,

Allison and Bova.

BROTHERS WRAP-UP WEEKEND AT WAYNESFIELD

Fresh off their impressive runs at Fremont, the Brantford teammates headed to Waynesfield Raceway Park for Sunday's K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invader finale event of the 3-race mini-series.

In pre-race speed trials Jake had 13th fast-time with Mitch one spot back.

Both competitors ran to 3rd-place finishes in their qualifying heats and found themselves lined-up side by side in the fifth row of the 20 car starting field for the A-Main.

The outcome saw Jake make his way to 6th place at the end of the chase while ONE-TWO FINISH AT FREMONT SPEEDWAY- Jake Brown Mitch lost the grip dropping back two spots for a 12th-place finish. held off a late race charge by his older brother Mitch to capture first career Fremont Speedway win.

BROWN BROTHERS CATCH UP WITH PST AT FULTON SPEEDWAY Brother Jake Has Problem in A-Main June 2 2018

Mitch and Jake Brown caught up with the Patriot Sprint Tour at Fulton Speedway on June 2nd where Mitch Brown sped to the win in the first of three qualifying heats while Jake came home fourth in heat #2.

Jake Brown along with pole sitter Denny Peebles would bring the 23-car field to the green in the A-Main with Peebles grabbing the early race lead. Jordan Thomas, who started fourth the on the grid immediately took his FT Motorsports No. 79 to the outside to challenge for the race lead with Peebles.

Following a caution on lap 2 Peebles would bring the field back to green with Thomas riding in second followed by Westbrook, and the brothers Jake and Mitch Brown fourth and fifth.

A three-car battle for the lead would go on for multiple laps between Thomas, Westbrook and Peebles with Thomas having the slight advantage over the two. Mitch Brown and Bryan Howland would move past Jake Brown to battle for the fourth position.

An unfortunate break for Peebles sent him into the infield and his night would be complete, but the battle would not stop between Thomas and Westbrook as more laps clicked away.

A few laps later, the second yellow flag would come out when

Jake Brown stopped on the back stretch with damage to the front end of his car -the result of contacting an inside tire marker through turns one and two. He was running in the top- five at the time of the problem.

On the lap 15 restart, Westbrook would go to the bottom and seal off Thomas going down the back stretch to officially take over the race lead.

On the final, Thomas went back to the top side of turn two giving him a great run down the backstretch. to pass Westbrook taking the lead and the win on the final corner scoring his first A-Main victory of the year. Westbrook would settle for second, followed by Bryan Howland, Mitch Brown, and Jeff Trombley.

Jake Brown was credited with a 19th-place finish.

BROWN BROTHERS ENJOY STRONG RUNS STATESIDE ON CANADA DAY WEEKEND Brantford Teammates Beginning to Enjoy Ohio Hospitality June 29-June 30 2018

On Canada Day Weekend, Mitch and Jake Brown headed south to compete with the NRA Sprint Invaders at Limaland Motorsports Park and Fremont Speedway for their second trip of the season to the Ohio ovals.

After two straight rainouts, the weather finally took a turn for the good for the fans and teams at Limaland on Friday June 29th as 90-degree temps and sunshine were a welcome change. Devon Dobie bagged his first feature win of 2018 in the K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint feature with Jake Brown chasing him to the checkered flag for a strong second-place finish .

Dobie of Wapakoneta, OH and No. 1-10 Jake Brown led the field to green in the 25-lap A-Main with

Dobie grabbing the early lead, hitting lapped traffic on lap 5 and seemingly setting sail until No 22d Aaron Robnolte (Uniopolis, OH) brought out the red flag on lap 10 by flipping in turns 1 and 2.

Robnolte was able to walk away, but his night was over. On the restart, No. 5M Max Stambaugh (Elida, OH) got a great run and looked to make his way into the top 4 until hooking a rut in turn 4 and getting upside down, ending his run. The red flag flew one more time for a 4 car pile-up on the backstretch

that saw No. 49 Shawn Dancer (Delphos, OH) get upside down and No 2 Kyle Sauder (Archbold, OH) get tangled up then hit by No. 24 Kobe Allison and No. 15 Brandon Ferguson (Sidney, OH). All drivers would walk away, but their cars were done for the night. Dobie would power away on the restart, and hold off Jake Brown for the win, with No. 17 Jared Horstman (Ottoville, OH) finishing 3rd, No. 87 Jason Barney (Brewertown, NY) finishing 4th, and No. 10 Mitch Brown completing the top 5.

Jake Brown got off to a quick start in winning his qualifier while Mitch ran to a 3rd-place finish in his heat.

Mitch Brown and Shawn Dancer lock up in a heat duel at Limaland Motorsports Park

Following the Limaland race. the teammates headed up to Fremont Speedway-the site of their surprising one-two feature finish on May 26th. The NRA 360 feature got off to a shaky start as a four car pile-up resulted in a second attempt. When the green flew outside front row starter Randy Hannagan drove into the lead over Mitch Brown, Hud Horton, Devin Dobie and Tim Allison. A quick caution for a Bo Barber spin on lap four kept the field close. But, when the green flew so did Hannagan, pulling away from Brown while Dobie jumped into third. Mike Burkin brought out the BROWN Racing Team Photos caution on lap 12, wiping out a big lead for Hannagan.

On the ensuing restart Hannagan could not shake Brown and Dobie who waged an entertaining battle for second. Dobie, who won the NRA feature Friday at Limaland Motorsports Park, drove into second with seven laps to go and started to slowly reel in Hannagan. But on lap 21 Dobie drove deep into turn three and caught the cushion and took a wild ride. When the race resumed, Hannagan drove away to the win over Mitch Brown, last place starter Jared Horstman, Horton and Allison. BROWN BROTHERS ENJOY STRONG RUNS IN SOS ACTION Mitch Second, Jake Fourth at Brighton Speedway July 7 2018

A July 7th run down the 401 to Brighton Speedway again resulted in strong performances by

Brantford's Brown brothers in Southern Ontario Sprints action with Jake finishing third in his qualifier after a sixth place start and Mitch duplicating that run with similar results -a third place finish after starting sixth-in the third qualifying heat leading up to the night's SOS 25-lap A-Main feature.

Cory Turner of Caistor Centre, ON led from start to finish in the main event by jumping into an

early advantage from his pole position but he needed a flawless run to ward off several attempts by Mitch Brown who had started third in the 20-car field.

Despite opening up a half straightaway advantage in the clean air by lap seven, Turner encountered lapped

traffic on lap eight but was saved by a caution on lap ten when Scotland, ON driver Dylan Westbrook spun just as the fast closing Brown was about to overtake the leader.

Mitch got a great restart following the caution but his

challenge was hampered by having to battle 2014 Series Champion Chris Jones of Picton, ON who had moved into third place from his seventh starting spot with Jake Brown in fourth and outside pole sitter Jamie Photo By -Rod Henderson - Canadianracer.com Turner in fifth.

By lap 17, the top three remained the same with Turner working into traffic again, this time maintaining his lead as he worked through the slower cars.

With five laps to go, two lapped cars separated Mitch Brown from the leading Turner and the race seemed in

hand for the driver of the No.97. Then, with 23 laps complete, Cory tried to slide between two slower cars in turns one and two, moving up just in front of Mike Ferrell’s No.15. Slight contact between the front bumper of Ferrell and the tail tank of the No.97 pitched Ferrell sideways and caused contact with Mike Thorne’s No.55. Thorne came to rest on an infield tractor tire, ending his night.

The third and final yellow flag set up a green-white- checkered finish. In clean air, Cory Turner wouldn’t be denied the victory as he drove to a narrow victory over Mitch Brown and Jones.

MOTHER NATURE PLAYS HAVOC WITH PLANNED PATRIOT SPRINT TOUR'S CANADIAN TRIPLE TREAT WEEKEND Three Scheduled Nights of Racing at Three Different Tracks Shortened By Rain July 18 2018

Brantford's Mitch and Jake Brown returned to Ohsweken Speedway on July 20th for the first of three straight nights of Sprint Car racing in the New York-based Patriot Sprint Tour's "Triple Treat Weekend" with the series scheduled to move on to Eastern Ontario for events at Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday and on Sunday.

Unfortunately, mother nature intervened on the Friday night and prevented any feature races from taking the green flag as heavy rain fell during the final B-Main race of the night. Thirty-Seven 360 Sprint Cars registered for the $3,333-to-win event.

Prior to the Friday rain, Jake Brown broke into the lead on lap one of the first of four 8-lap qualifiers outdistancing Alex Hill of Six Nations, ON and Matt Billings of Brockville, ON for the win.

In the second qualifier, Mitch Brown charged from his 4th-place starting position to chase Mack DeMan of Mississauga, ON to the checkered flag followed by Mikey Kruchka of Hamilton, ON -piloting Glenn Styres #0 - coming home third.

Scott Kreutter of Alden, NY and Cory Turner of Caistor Centre, Ont. won heats three and four respectively while Jordan Thomas of Harding, PA recovered from a heat race rollover to win the first B-Main. Ryan Turner of Caistor Centre, Ont. won the second B-Main.

Provisional starting spots were awarded to Steve Glover and Dylan Westbrook as the top non- qualified Patriot Sprint Tour and Kool Kidz- Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car drivers based on points.

With all preliminary races and qualifying completed, the field was set for the 25-lap Feature. Matt Billings and Alex Hill pulled front row starting spots after qualifying into the redraw for the top-11 drivers in passing points who also finished in the top-five in their heat. Jake Brown will lineup to start 8th and Mitch 11th in the 25- lap A-Main rescheduled for the "Burger Barn Night Before the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals" on Friday, September 14.

The "Cobra" Strikes at Brockville with 5th Patriot Win in Event #2

Following the abbreviated Friday show at Ohsweken, the Patriot Sprint Tour headed to its first appearance of the season at Brockville Ontario Speedway on July 21st with a stellar field of 31 winged 360 Sprint cars on hand for the second of three weekend events.

In qualifying heats Jake Brown led group 4 to the win with brother Mitch finishing 5th but the brothers could manage only 13th and 20th A-Main finishes on a track best described as slick -the result of the track's five regular divisions' events plus the Sprint Car heats and B-Mains which dried out the track's clay surface prior to the PST A-Main.

Mitch was running well in the A-main until problems occurred on lap 21 when he brought out the caution

Dylan Westbrook of Scotland, ON drew the pole position and led the way early on over Chuck Hebing, Jason Barney, Steve Hutcheson Jr. and Steve Poirier. Westbrook was running strong but they call the man behind him The Cobra for a reason as he took over the top spot with ease on lap 5 and began to stretch out his advantage over the rest of the field.

Hebing would hold on for the win over Jason Barney for his fifth win of the season. Steve Poirier was able to get by Dylan Westbrook at the line to steal third. Steven Hutchinson Jr had a season best fifth place finish

Weather Forecast Cancels Cornwall Show

The third event on the scheduled Triple Treat Weekend at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday was cancelled due to expected thunderstorms forecasted in the area.

Not very often do Canadian race fans get the opportunity to see ‘The Cobra’ Chuck Hebing compete across the border, but Saturday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway, the current Patriot Sprint Tour point leader put on a show and picked up his fifth win of the 2018 season and career win No. 49.

On lap three, Hebing would roll into corners of three and four wing to wing with Dylan Westbrook and would officially take the lead on the fourth lap. Jason Barney came home second while Steve Poirier (#28) (pictured at right) was able to get by Dylan Westbrook at the line to steal third. Steven Hutchinson Jr had a season best fifth place finish.

MIXED RESULTS FOR BROTHERS IN STATESIDE RETURN TO CLOSE OUT JULY

STRONG RUN BY MITCH BROWN IN A-MAIN AT LIMALAND ERASED WHILE UNDER CAUTION Jared Horstman Wins 17th Annual Keysor Memorial -July 27, 2018

Beautiful weather greeted the fans and teams at Limaland Motorsports Park on July 27th as K&L Ready Mix presented the K&L Ready Mix Clash, and the Keysor family presented the 17th Annual Keysor Memorial.

In the qualifying Jake Brown placed 3rd in heat 3 while Mitch Brown ran 4th in his 8-lap chase.

In the 25 lap K&L Ready Mix Clash A Main, Jake ran to an 8th-place finish after starting 9th.

Mitch Brown saw a potential top-five finish in the A-Main erased when he was tagged from behind by a driver who experienced brake issues as the cars slowed for a caution. The impact spun the #10 car out but fortunately he was able to restart at the back of the field and recovered for 15th-place finish.

Hud Horton (Germantown, OH) and Jared Horstman (Cloverdale, OH) would pace the field to the green flag, with Horton grabbing the early lead. Horstman would hound Horton until making his move on the high side on lap 16 and take the lead for good. No 5M Mad Max Stambaugh (Elida, OH) would use a lapped car on the final lap to make his way past Horton to grab 2nd, Horton would finish 3rd with No 49 Shawn Dancer (Delphos, OH) finishing 4th and No. 2 Kyle Sauder (Archbold, OH) completing the top 5.

Heat races were won by Stambaugh and Dancer.

BROWN BROTHERS TAKE HEAT WINS AT MONTPELIER SPEEDWAY Dustin Daggett Wins The Battle In Border Wars -JULY 28, 2018

The following night it was on to Indiana's Montpelier Speedway where the Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS) and National Racing Alliance (NRA) came together for a joint 360 Sprint Car sizzler in the heart of the small rural community.

In the second heat qualifier Aaron Robnolte (Uniopolis, OH) and Jake Brown led the group around to the green flag with the Brantford driver jumping out to the lead for a wire to wire win followed by Randy Hannagan (Pittsboro, IN) and Devon Dobie (Wapakoneta, OH).

In heat three, Mitch Brown and Noah Dunlap (Wapakoneta, OH) led the 3rd heat race around the track to the start line with Brown getting out quick and leading the rest of the way in the 8-lap chase. The battle for the 2nd saw Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI) nip Gregg Dalman (Bellevue, MI) at the finish line.

Both brothers drew 4th and 5th starting spots in the 25-lap A-Main with Mitch finishing sixth and Jake dropping off to 11th.

Dustin Daggett held off Jared Horstman to take checkered flag with Randy Hannagan crossing for 3rd. Starting 16th and finishing in 4th was the Hard Charger, Shawn Dancer and rounding out the top 5 was Phil Gressman.

BROWN BROTHERS ADD NEW TRACKS TO THEIR RACING EXPERIENCES Return With Mixed Results in Michigan and Indiana August 3 -4 2018

Continuing with their random selection of tracks and series to compete in, Mitch and Jake Brown headed to Michigan's Hartford Motor Speedway and Indiana's Plymouth Speedway on our Civic Holiday Weekend for two nights of action in the Great Lakes Super Sprints Michigan/Indiana Challenge doubleheader.

It was the brothers' first visit to the two clay ovals and the results proved challenging but satisfying.

Hartford Motor Speedway -August 3, 2018

In Friday's show at Hartford, Michigan, Mitch experienced engine problems in pre-race qualifying time trials, but had the problem resolved in time to run the third heat, starting 7th and finishing 3rd after a see-saw battle with Jared Lamberson of Parma, OH.

He drew 11th spot for the 25-lap A-Main and finished a solid 4th behind race winner Gregg Dalman (Bellevue, MI), Dustin Daggett (Grand Ledge, MI) and Chase Ridenour (Perry, MI)

Despite a solid run in heat #1 Jake Brown finished 4th -one spot out of an assured starting spot in the A-Main and was forced to run the B- Main.

Jake drew pole position for the 12-lap "last Chance" but made a jump start and was docked a row for the restart. On the second attempt to start the chase, he was spun out and relegated to the tail of the 10-car field. On the final restart, he charged to a 4th place finish to gain the final qualifying spot for the A-Main.

He finished 16th on a track that became difficult to move forward on given the extreme dust and developing slickness at the end of the night's activities.

Gregg Dalman who finished 2nd behind points leader Dustin Daggett twice this year, was able to flip the table on Daggett at Hartford Motor Speedway for his first feature win of the 2018 season!

Plymouth Speedway -August 4, 2018

On Saturday the brothers headed 75 miles/120 kms south to Plymouth, Indiana and the .375 Plymouth Speedway.

Jared Horstman and Mitch Brown lead the Campbell Performance Heat 2 around to the green flag. With a clean start, Horstman beat Brown into turn 1 and led wire to wire.

Brown was able to hold off Hannagan for the 2nd transfer spot. Hannagan secured the 3rd transfer spot and Michael Summers (Warsaw, IN) who started 6th was able to lock in the 4th transfer spot to the A-Main.

In the Specialty Fuels & Logistics Heat 4, Jake Brown secured a transfer spot to the A-Main with a 3rd-place finish behind race winner Kyle Poortenga (Woodland, MI) and Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI).

Mitch Brown drew 4th starting spot in the 25-lap A-Main 20-car field but lost ground early and dropped back several spots to 8th by lap 6 before finding a satisfactory line that would lead to a seventh-place finish

Jake started the feature in 12th spot but fell to a 15th place finish despite a determined effort against some tough competition.

The "Ohio Gas Man”, Phil Gressman (Helena, OH) took the checkered flag ahead of the 2017 GLSS Champion, Jared Horstman (Cloverdale, OH) and 2018 GLSS Points Leader, Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI)! Jake Brown and Dustin Daggett battling it out in Great Lakes Super Sprint action in 2018.

BROWN BROTHERS MAKE BRIEF RETURN TO OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY -August 10 2018

Mitch and Jake Brown returned to Ohsweken Speedway on August 10th for the Renway Energy "Halloween in August" and " Art Hill Memorial"-(for Mini Stocks) special.

Once again it was current points' leader Dylan Westbrook who led the field to his 7th feature win of the season after starting 4th in the 22-car field. Alden, NYs Scott Kreutter claimed the second spot while Mikey Kruchka of Hamilton, ON raced to the final spot on the podium. Mitch Brown drove forward from seventh to a fourth-place finish while Ryan Turner stole the fifth spot from Jim Huppunen on the final lap to round out the top-five.

Jake Brown lined finished 9th.

In their qualifying heat led by Kruchka and Westbrook, Jake finished 3rd and Mitch one spot back in 4th.

BROWN BROTHERS RETURN TO MICHIGAN FOR GLSS EVENTS Mitch Finishes fourth, Jake Goes For a Tumble at Thunderbird Raceway -August 17 -18 2018

Following their mixed results at Michigan's Hartford Motor Speedway and Indiana's Plymouth Speedway, Mitch and Jake Brown headed west again on August 17th-18th for more events at unfamiliar ovals.

Unfortunately Friday's event at I-96 at Odessa, MI was rained out but the following night 29 cars were on hand for the Great lakes Super Sprints show at Thunderbird Raceway near Muskegon MI

In Saturday's first flight of qualifying it was Mitch Brown setting fast time of 11.783 seconds around the 3/8th-mile oval but it was Brett Mann (Goshen, IN) rolling out in the second group of the first flight of cars, who rode the rim to set fast time of the night with an average lap time of 11.73 seconds or 110.5 mph.

In the first of 4 qualifying heats, Jake Brown avoided two accidents in chasing Dustin Daggett to the checkered flag.

In heat 2 Mitch Brown put on a strong drive in an attempt to reel in front row starter Phil Gressman but had to settle for second place after starting 4th in the 8-lap chase.

The feature lineup saw Jake Brown start on the pole for the 25-lap event with outside front row starter Gressman grabbing the early lead into turn 1. Brown and Daggett fell into 2nd and 3rd.

The start saw 3 wide passing as the field jockeyed for position with all going well until lap 7 and 8 when the leaders caught the back of the field. Gressman riding high on the track had little trouble getting into the lapped traffic. However, Brown and Daggett were using the bottom in turns 1 and 2 and were having trouble getting around the Mitch Brown(10) running the low line in attempt to get by Phil back cars. Gressman (28) during the A-Main at Thunderbird Raceway. In lap 9, Brown had to suddenly check up at the bottom of 1 & 2 as a lap car apparently was on the brakes. But coming out of 2 on the back stretch, the driver of the #1-10 was on the gas and making a move to get around the car, catching the right rear tire which launched him into the air. Unfortunately, his car came down, bit in sideways and flipped coming to a rest on its side at the entrance to turn 3. Jake was out of his car uninjured but not happy.

On the restart Gressman shot into a comfortable lead with Horstman, who started 6th, eventually overtaking Daggett for 2nd.

With the white flag waving, the field continued to battle for their positions. At the checkered flag it was Gressman, Horstman, Daggett, Mitch Brown and Gregg Dalman.

MITCH BROWN CHASES WESTBROOK TO HIS 8TH WIN AT OHSWEKEN Jake Brown Finishes 6th In Accident Marred Event - August 24, 2018

Taking another brief respite from their travels south of the border, Mitch and Jake Brown headed to Ohsweken Speedway on August 24th for Gale's Auto Aftermarket presents "Race of Champions Sportsman Series & Minor Sports Night".

It marked only the 5th appearance of the season for the brothers at the local oval which featured "Gale’s Cash Blast" for the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stocks and the return of the "Race of Champions Sportsman" tour along with a full card of races for the Kool Kidz- Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car division, Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks.

In the first of four qualifying heats Jake Brown started and finished 4th while Mitch Brown chased Mack DeMan to the checkered flag in heat #3.

Jim Huppunen and Tyler Hendricks paced the field to the green flag for the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars 20-lap feature but immediately after the green flag, Shawn Sliter got sideways on the front stretch and was facing the wrong way. Curtis Gartly had nowhere to go and launched off the nose of Sliter’s No.22, sending both cars flipping wildly into turn one. Both drivers were uninjured.

Hendricks jumped to the lead on the restart and paced the opening lap until fourth-starting Dylan Westbrook jumped to the point on the next lap. While Westbrook opened a straightaway lead, sixth-starting Ryan Turner quickly made his presence felt as he raced into a battle for second with Hendricks, Huppunen and Mitch Brown before taking the spot on lap six. On the next lap, the caution waved for a slow Mike Thorne, setting up the first single-file restart.

Westbrook was dominant on the restart and re-established his lead of a full straightaway over Ryan Turner by lap nine. Before lap 10 could be completed, Mack DeMan and Hendricks got together in turn one and both flipped, collecting Alex Hill in the process.

With the red flag displayed, Ohsweken’s emergency first responders attended to Hendricks before outside paramedics arrived.

The race resumed approximately 50 minutes later, with Dylan Westbrook leading the final 11 laps to score his eighth win of the season. Mitch Brown had moved past Turner, Huppunen and Chris Steel late in the race to chase Westbrook to the wire while Jim Huppunen, Ryan Turner and Chris Steele rounded out the top-five.

Jake Brown moved up from his 12th-place starting spot to finish 6th.

Hendricks was transported first to Brantford's General Hospital but later transferred to the Hamilton General where an MRI and more X-rays were completed to see what if any ligament damage was done in his neck and to see if any damage was done to his shoulders. After undergoing successful surgery and several days in the hospital Tyler was on his way home with a lengthy period of recovery ahead of him.

BROWN BROTHERS ADD TO THEIR EXPRIENCES AT TRI-CITY Michigan Oval Impressive For First Time Visitors

Brantford's racing brothers added yet another venue to their growing list of first time starts on unfamiliar ovals when they ventured to Michigan's Tri-County Motor Speedway on August 31st for the final event of the 2018 Great Lakes Super Sprints calendar.

Unfortunately mother nature intervened on part of the Labor Day weekend event by washing out Saturday's first annual Great Lakes Fall Sprintacular and subsequent rain date on Monday when heavy rains were forecast for the area.

Fortunately, Friday's event was run under ideal conditions with drivers present from 5 states and Canada for the GLSS final points race of the season.

In pre-race qualifying, Jake Brown powered his Hill's Tire & Gas/ARC/Strodes BBQ & Deli/Brown Auto Service-sponsored sprinter to 3rd-fastest time around the 3/8 mile oval behind Dustin Daggett of Portland, MI and Devon Dobie of Wapakoneta, OH. The driver of the #1-10 then ran to a solid 4th-place finish in heat 1.

By the time Mitch Brown went out for his 2-lap qualifying assault of the unfamiliar oval late in the pre-race time trials the track surface had changed considerably resulting in a 15th-place posting among the 34 competitors.

The driver of the Brantford Hyundai/Niesen AC & Heating/Strodes BBQ & Deli/ Brown Auto Service #10 lined up 4th in heat 4 but wasted little time powering into the lead early in the 8-lap chase and cruised to victory.

When the starting line-up for the A-Main was set, Mitch was slotted 6th and Jake back in 13th in the 22-car field.

Mitch dropped back a couple of spots in the early going but soon settled into a steady pace that saw him regain a few positions as the race reached the half- way point.

Despite a slick dry surface, the racing among the top dozen cars was tight throughout the chase with the veteran Brantford competitor crossing the finish line in 10th place.

"We may have missed the set-up on Mitch's car for the feature but he still managed to grab a tenth place finish in a highly competitive field," Doug Brown reported following the event.

Jake appeared to have found the right groove on the inner portion of the oval BROWN and steadily moved forward in the closing laps to come home seventh. Racing Team Photo Gregg Dalman (Bellevue, MI) won the A-Main-his 2nd feature of the GLSS season - in a photo finish with “Mad” Max Stambaugh (Elida, OH) to secure 2nd place in the Great Lakes Super Sprints final seasonal standings behind 2018 Champion Dustin Daggett.

BROWN BROTHERS CLOSE IN SOUTHERN ONTARIO SPRINTS ACTION AT BRIGHTON SPEEDWAY Brantford Teammates Chase NY's Ryan Susice to Checkered Flag -September 2,2018

With the second night of the Great Lakes Super Sprints Labor Day Weekend special at Tri-City Motor Speedway washed out on Saturday, Mitch and Jake Brown hustled home to catch night two of action in the Southern Ontario Sprints Labour Day Classic Weekend event at Brighton Speedway on Sunday. Twenty two cars were on hand for the race.

Holly Porter of Delhi, ON charged from 8th spot to first in winning heat #1 with Ryan Susice of Ransomville, NY in second and Jamie Turner of Caistor Centre, ON taking third.

Jake Brown drew the outside front row position for the second race qualifier with Mitch lined up beside him on the front row. But what looked like a one-two finish for the Brantford duo was broken up by Caistor Centres' Ryan Turner who snared second place in the 8-lap chase. BROTHERS TUNE-UP FOR NATIONALS AT OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY Mitch Brown Struggles to Seventh-Place Finish -September 7, 2018

In preparation for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals scheduled for September 14th-15th Mitch and Jake Brown were among the 21 360 Sprint Cars on hand for Ohsweken Speedways September 7th Championship Night.

Jake started and finished 5th in his qualifying heat while Mitch powered to the win in heat 2 after starting 3rd for the 8-lap sprint.

The 21 qualifiers faced a slick track surface for the 20-lap A-Main with Jim Huppunen of Welland , ON and Sam Hafertepe of Rockwell, TX leading the field to the green flag. But a near spin by Mack DeMan of Mississauga, ON triggered a bit of chaos that resulted in Shawn Sliter of Port Colborne, ON and Scott Burk of Charing Cross, ON spinning to bring out the yellow flag.

On the complete restart, Hafertepe grabbed the early lead from Huppunen with 4th- place starter and current points' leader Dylan Westbrook of Scotland, ON quickly gaining second place.

Hafertepe's lead was slowed on lap 16 by a stalled car but with a clear track on the restart he drove to his 4th career win on the 3/8th-mile oval with Westbrook, Mikey Kruchka of Hamilton, ON, DeMan and Scott Kreutter of Alden, NY rounding out the top- five.

Huppunen finished sixth -one spot ahead of Mitch Brown who struggled to maintain his seventh-place starting spot -the result of a missed set-up for the track's slick condition.

Jake Brown also had some handling issues that resulted in a 15th-place finish after a 15th-place starting position.

BROWN BROTHERS POST TOP-TEN FINISHES AT MERRITTVILLE IN SOS FINAL

Huppunen Scores First SOS Win: Cory Turner Wraps Up First Championship - September 8, 2018

Mitch and Jake Brown elected to compete at Merrittville Speedway on Saturday September 8th for the final event of the Southern Ontario Sprints schedule. The event was also the final weekend before the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.

Both brothers had made a handful of appearances at the 3/8th-mile clay oval south of St. Catharines ON in previous seasons when the touring Empire Super Sprints, Patriot Sprint Tour and Southern Ontario Sprints were in the house.

Mitch won the season ending SOS event at the track in 2015 in an exciting see-saw battle with Glenn Styres to solidify his first Championship title in the winged, open- BROWN Racing wheel series. Team Photo

With four other divisions in Saturday's race card which

included a 50-lap feature for the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series and a 50-lap Hoosier Stock Duel on the Dirt Series, the track was extremely slick by the time the 22-car field of Sprint Cars was called for their 25-lap A-Main.

Mitch Brown drew 6th and Jake was slotted 9th for the A-Main but both drivers has dropped a spot at the end of the night.

When asked about the results and the upcoming season ending Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at

Ohsweken on September 14th-15th, Mitch responded by stating "We've been testing different tires and set- ups in recent weeks to see if we can correct some of the handling issues we've experienced on slick tracks like Tri-City Motor Speedway in Michigan two weeks BROWN Racing ago and at Ohsweken last night and again tonight." Team Photo "We'll have another chance this coming Thursday to do some tinkering to find what we need for big weekend."

In Saturday's qualifiers, Jake finished 3rd in heat #1 and Mitch ran to a 3rd-place finish in heat #3.

Merrittville fans witnessed two firsts on Saturday night when Jim Huppunen, a Fenwick, ON native claimed his first Southern Ontario Sprints win while Cory Turner of Caistor Centre, ON clinched his firsts SOS Championship title.

Huppunen's win was his first Sprint Car win away from Ohsweken Speedway were he has recorded 5 wins and captured two championships -2011 and 2013.

As a lead-up to Canada's biggest Sprint car event, the Brown brothers competed in the "Night Before the Nationals" which included the Patriot Sprint Tour's 25-lap feature postponed from July 25th.

Mitch finished 9th and Jake was credited with a 24th-place finish -the result of mechanical issues that led to a DNF.

In his qualifying attempt for a spot in one of the 15-lap A-Mains, Mitch drew the outside front row for heat 4 but his run came to an abrupt end when the drive shaft of his racer broke on the first lap causing the engine to over rev.

In heat 5, Jake started seventh but gained only one position, one spot shy of a qualifying for an A-Main.

The teammates hurried home and toiled through the night and early morning to replace the motor in Mitch's car and make other set-up and related changes to both sprinters in preparation for Saturday's qualifying runs for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.

CANADIAN SPRINT CAR NATIONALS WEEKEND WRAPS UP

LOCAL SPRINT CAR SEASON -September 14-15, 2018

MITCH BROWN PERSEVERES TO EIGHTH PLACE FINISH IN BIGGEST RACE ON THE CANADIAN SPRINT CAR CALENDAR Brantford Veteran Puts on Determined Run After Early Qualifying Concerns

Mitch Brown had been to the BIG SHOW of Canadian Sprint Car racing on six previous

occasions and enjoyed respectable tenth place finishes in 2016 and 2017.

But this year's event proved to be an uphill battle just to get into the biggest race on the Canadian Sprint Car calendar hosted by Ohsweken Speedway.

The veteran competitor's struggles began with engine problems during Friday's "Night Before the Nationals" and continued on Saturday with a disappointing sixth-place finish in qualifying heat #4 and a third-place finish in the second of three B-Features -one spot shy of a spot in the big race.

But by virtue of five available spots still open to fill the 30-car starting field after all the guaranteed starters were identified, Mitch's third-place finish was enough to slot him 26th for the 35-lap chase.

Through a steady determined drive that saw only 18 of the 30 starters complete the gruelling race Mitch Brown brought his Strodes BBQ & Deli/Brantford Hyundai/ Brown Auto Service/Neisen AC & Heating #10 home to an impressive eighth-place finish on the lead lap with the winner.

Parker Price-Miller Wins 2018 Canadian Sprint Car Nationals

Parker Price-Miller of Kokomo, IN claimed the $10,000 USD top prize and the second Canadian Sprint Car Nationals victory of his career.

2007 and 2012 CSCN event winner Steve Poirier of Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, QC finished second with Mark Smith of Sunbury, PA coming home third. 2011 race winner Sam Hafertepe (Rockwall, TX) and Davie Franek (Wantage, NJ) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Scott Kreutter (Cowlesville, NY), Jordan Poirier (Saint- Mathieu-de-Beloeil, QC), 26th starter Mitch Brown (Brantford, ON), 30th starter Chris Steele (St. Catharines, ON), and 22nd starter Jason Barney (Brewerton, NY) rounded out the top ten.

Jake Brown fell short in his bid to qualify for the A-Main after a disappointing 7th- place finish in his heat and a 6th-place run in B-Feature #2 but he can take solace in the fact 29 other top competitors from Ontario, Quebec and neighboring states also didn't make the show.

BROTHERS BACK IN ACTION FOLLOWING NATIONALS SEPTEMBER 22 2018

One week after competing in the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals, Mitch and Jake Brown headed to Dundee, NY and Outlaw Speedway for the wrap-up up race of the Patriot Sprint Tour's season.

This year's event was shortened to 27 laps in respect of Sprint Car driver Gregg Hodnett who lost his life a week earlier in Pennsylvania.

Both drivers had made only one previous visit to the 4/10s-mile oval presenting a huge disadvantage early in the evening with Jake finishing 4th in his heat and Mitch running to a 5th-place finish in heat 3

Both drivers qualified for the A-Main -Mitch 16th and Jake 20th but were unable to find much wiggle room on the dry dusty surface virtually finishing where they started in the 26 car field.

Dave Franek of Wantage, NJ won the race withstanding the challenges of Lucas Wolfe (Mechanicsburg, PA ), Chuck Hebing (Ontario, NY), Joe Trenca (Clay, NY) and Steven Hutchinson Jr (Oswego, NY).
