Information Pack Season 6 Awchampionships.Co.Uk PROUDLY SPONSORED BY OFFICIAL PARTNER ALL STARS ALL-WEATHER ALL ACTION! INFORMATION PACK SEASON 6 AWCHAMPIONSHIPS.CO.UK Regardez la brochure en français sur www.awchampionships.co.uk WELCOME Welcome to Season 6 of the All-Weather Championships. I am delighted to welcome you all either as racing fans or professionals to Season 6 of the All-Weather Championships. Good Friday at Lingfield Park continues to grow in popularity, with more and more high-quality horses now aimed at what is the pinnacle of the flat winter season in Britain. For Season 6, we welcome Ladbrokes back as sponsors of the All-Weather Championships. An original sponsor of the inaugural Championships back in 2013, we very much look forward to seeing their branding across the four ARC All-Weather racecourses, and working with their team to offer their customers some fantastic sporting action over the winter. Equally, we are incredibly grateful for the support of Sun Racing’s sponsorship of the Mile category along with Be Wiser who continue in their role as ‘Official Partner’ of the All-Weather Championships. After two seasons of sponsorship, Betway have established themselves as a major partner of All-Weather racing in Britain, and we look forward to more fantastic racing under their banner, with feature races including the Betway Winter Derby and Betway Easter Classic. Finals Day 2018 was one that will be very much remembered as the day the French came to Lingfield Park, with three winners in Funny Kid, Lucky Team and subsequent Royal Ascot runner up City Light. We once again look forward to a strong challenge from our friends across the channel along with competition from Ireland also. Our thanks to our partners at France Galop and Horse Racing Ireland for their continued involvement and support in the All-Weather Championships. Finally, our thanks must also go to our partners in Britain, the British Horseracing Authority, the European Breeders Fund, Chelmsford City and Kempton Park Racecourses along with the owners, trainers, jockeys, racing staff, racegoers and punters who support the All-Weather Championships throughout the winter. We look forward to another fantastic season of racing, and the crowning of a new set of Champions on Good Friday, 19 April 2019. Martin Cruddace Chief Executive, Arena Racing Company. • Written Evidence Submitted by the British Horseracing Authority
Written evidence submitted by the British Horseracing Authority Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee inquiry into impact of Covid-19 on DCMS sectors Introduction 1. The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) – the governing and regulatory body for thoroughbred horseracing in Great Britain – welcomes the opportunity to respond to this inquiry into the impact of Covid-19 on DCMS sectors. This is an unprecedented crisis which is impacting every industry in the British economy and DCMS sectors. However, there are unique and specific challenges which our industry, working with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and other Government departments, is facing in the short and medium term. 2. British racing is the UK’s second largest sport behind football in respect of attendances, employment and revenues generated annually. In 2019, 5.62 million people attended over 1,500 individual race meetings held across England, Scotland and Wales. Our largest events are not only highlights in the increasingly competitive international racing calendar, but also the UK sporting and social calendar. British Racing’s cultural significance is demonstrated by the fact that ours is the only sport which has two annual nationwide events – the Grand National and The Derby –included on the Group A list of full live coverage protected events for FTA broadcast. The sport’s popularity has also once again been recently demonstrated with ITV Racing’s coverage of the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on 6 June attracting an audience of 1.5 million viewers. 3. This translates into a significant economic benefit for the UK, with our industry generating £4.1 billion in direct, indirect and associated expenditure annually for the British economy.

  • Timeform Appointed Distributor of Official British Horseracing Pre-Race Data
For immediate release July 7, 2014 TIMEFORM APPOINTED DISTRIBUTOR OF OFFICIAL BRITISH HORSERACING PRE-RACE DATA Racecourse Data Company (RDC) has announced that Timeform has been appointed a distributor of official British horseracing Pre-Race Data (PRD) up to the end of 2018. Timeform has been providing horse racing form and ratings, racecards, results, tips and betting advice since 1948. In the past few years Timeform has increased its output considerably so that data and content is now available at differing levels of sophistication. The contract sanctions the distribution of PRD – both domestically and overseas – to Timeform’s broad customer-bases, including newspapers, websites, TV and media businesses, mobile platforms, Pari-Mutuel operators, bookmakers, online betting companies, racing authorities and racecourses. RDC, a joint-venture comprised of 57 British racecourses, was assigned the PRD licence from Racing Enterprises Limited (REL), with effect from January 1, 2014 to 31 December 2018. Any income received by REL will be wholly invested in British horseracing. PRD is generated by Weatherbys and is the key component of information required to take a bet. It includes information on a racecard, such as final fields, owners, trainers, jockeys, weights, colours, draw and ratings. The deal means that Timeform joins PA and SIS, who both signed as distributors of official British horseracing PRD in May. Richard FitzGerald, Chief Executive of Racecourse Media Group and Tony Kelly, Managing Director of Arena Racing Company, who are both RDC Directors, said: “We are delighted that Timeform has signed with RDC. It means that nearly all those customers who received PRD through REL’s licensing process will continue to do so under RDC’s licensing.
