s Halloween steadily approaches, Jayne Ball- Saret becomes more and more busy. As party-goers come into her costume shop, she runs around withA a tape measure streaming behind her and tries to find the perfect fit of the per- fect costume for each customer. Driving by Grand Ball Costume Shop, 609 Sixth St., passers-by would never imagine that inside that teeny-tiny shop 60,000 costumes awaited their invitation to an area Halloween party. Her ware- house is half-a-block long and three sto- ries high. What is interesting, however, is that all those costumes are hand-made by Ball herself. Ball’s interest in sewing began with a 4- H project when she was nine years old. Her love for design, however, began with a degree from Eastern. Ball received a bachelor of arts in theater and a master’s degree in related arts which allowed her to teach in the areas of theater, art, music and literature.
