We all know that this is a unique, amazing, place. There just aren’t other schools like Male, and I believe it is important that our strongest supporters – our alumni – be given the opportunity to share with this generation of student. That connect to our history and tradition is important and I don’t want to lose it. Please don’t get me wrong. Our staff and students have their sights set on the future as college application week starts in four days, and students are deciding on careers and college. However, connecting with those who came before should only strengthen the resolve of current students to uphold the high expectations that are shared with them. Personally, I am looking forward to meeting some alums and hearing from teachers and students after the speakers have shared their stories. I have said this before, and will continue to say it. You would be proud of our students; I know I am. I get compliments throughout the year about how polite and considerate our kids are, and I want to share that with you. The academics are strong, the extra-curriculars are strong and more and more students want to be Bulldogs. As always – Go Dawgs!

We have updated our flag harnesses, purchased a new Male flag, and hats for the Color Guard. Many of our uniform items are specialty items we have purchased in order to dress up the uniform in order to look sharp, especially for performing color guards.

The next school year when we started practicing we had 20 Cadets and we started attending competitions. It was difficult at first, but by the 2013-2014 school year we were making a name for Male High School in drill. That year we placed overall in every drill meet we attended and competed in the All Army JROTC Drill Championships competing in three events placing in two of the three. Also this year we decided that we needed to give the team a name. We decided that since many of the things we did was patterned after the Army Old Guard that we should call ourselves the Bull Dog Guard and we adopted the logo pictured within this article. The members of the Drill Team take great pride in wearing this logo. During the 2014-2015 we competed in eight drill meets winning first place overall in three of those meets. During the 2015- 2016 and 2016-2017 seasons the team competed in our annual Brigade drill competition in Radcliff, KY against 23 schools from five different states in which we claimed the Unarmed Regulation Drill Champion both years in addition to placing overall in each Louisville Male Band to Perform at drill meet we competed in those two years.
