Sixteen species in 12 genera in the cassidine tribes Cassidini, Delocraniini, Goniocheniini, Physonotini, Spilophorini, and Stolaini, are reported from Costa Rica for the first time. Localities for these new records are presented. Data are based on collections accumulated under the intensive survey of Costa Rica by Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad (INBio). Key words: entomology, zoogeography, Chrysomelidae, Cassidinae, Costa Rica, new records. INTRODUCTION CHAMPION (1893) recorded 47 species of chrysomelid cassidines for Costa Rica. Cassidine diversity in Costa Rica has been further documented in BLACKWELDER (1946), FLOWERS and JANZEN (1997), BOROWIEC (1996, 1999, 2001, 2002) and CHABOO (2002). The intensive inventory effort of Costa Rica’s Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad (INBio) has accumulated a large collection of specimens in just over 13 years. In this paper, I provide 16 new species records along with provincial collecting data. Localities are provided for all new records, with provinces listed alphabetically and dates abbreviated to roman numerals. Each locality corresponds to a specimen in INBio's collection. HAITIAN & DOMINICAN ENERGY EXECUTIVES ANALYZE APPLICABILITY OF SALVADORAN POWER SECTOR REFORM & GOVERNANCE USAID/USEA EXECUTIVE EXCHANGE WITH SALVADORAN ENERGY INSTITUTIONS September 2014 – SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR – Supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), seven senior executives from the Government of Haiti and Electricité d’Haïti, along with two senior officials from the Dominican Republic's National Energy Commission and the state power holding company, CDEEE, participated in an executive exchange with their counterparts from El Salvador’s energy sector to review best practices in electricity sector reform and governance. The exchange, conducted by the U.S. Energy Association as part of its Haiti Energy Policy and Utility Partnership Program (HEPP), introduced and reinforced best practices in energy policy, legal and regulatory framework reform. This was the second executive exchange to occur under the partnership, following an initial exchange to Colombia in April 2014. This is the first exchange to incorporate delegates from the Dominican Republic. The Dominican delegation, like their Haitian counterparts, benefitted from learning about El Salvador’s electric sector management. The Dominican delegation also familiarized themselves with the Haitian delegation and energy sector - a key development in the event of future electrical interconnection agreements between the neighboring countries. The delegation meets with Eng. Luis Roberto Reyes Fabian, Executive Secretary of the Salvadoran National Energy Council (CNE). SIEPAC consists of a 1,793 km long tansmission line across Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. This project is phase two of the creation of SIEPAC, with phase one parts already up and running. This project will have two main activities: 1. Construction of electricity transmission lines, as well as planned regional works 2. CDM – Executive Board page 2 SECTION A. General description of project activity A.1 Title of the project activity: Buenos Aires Wind Farm Version 0. 01/06/2009 A.2. Description of the project activity: Buenos Aires Wind Farm will be built with the purpose of generating an average of 38.461 GWh per year of clean electric energy, to be injected to the Interconnected National System of Guatemala. The project is being developed by Empresa Eléctrica Buenos Aires, S.A., a Guatemalan private company. The site of the project has a potential of 40 MW, which will be exploited in stages. During the first stage wind power turbines will be installed with a total capacity of 15 MW, and the capacity of the wind farm will be increased in future stages. Present PDD refers to first stage. Buenos Aires Wind Farm will contribute to the increment of the electricity offer in Guatemala, with lower and more stable prices, which is compatible with sectorial laws –Ley General de Electricidad y Ley de Energías Renovables (General Law of Electricity and Renewable Energy Law).
