ABOUT THE DRIVING SCHOOL • What will you drive? A C7 with the Z51 option package. • The Level 1 driving school is as much educational as it is hands-on fun. The curriculum focuses on developing your car control skills and performance driving techniques. And, so you don’t feel alone or lost, there is a two-way radio with the instructor. • This curriculum also includes dynamic car control exercises for wet surfaces, handling on oval courses versus road courses, and helps improve your driving skills visually. After all, you need to see what’s in front of you at all times as well as what is beside and behind you too. There is instruction on cornering and you’ll get to lead and follow the instructor while also getting open track time. • Mind-speed and decision-making are key elements in the high performance world. All car control exercises and on-track training will help you improve your ability to process information quickly and accurately, resulting in a better coordination of eyes, hands and feet as well as improved speed and accuracy.

Chip’s Choice is CHIP’S CHOICE #392 an annual display in Building T that showcases the best-of- the-best in the Corvette hobby; each year with a different theme. It is named after our late company co-founder and National Corvette Hall of Famer Chip Miller. Created in 1978, Bloomington Gold’s judging goal was to enable any Corvette to be a winner, provided it met high standards of authenticity. Gold Certified® would require Corvettes to be judged not against one another, but as to the individual car's level of accuracy compared to the day it left the factory. A Corvette would earn Gold Certification if its condition was within 95 to 100 percent of the way it rolled off the assembly line - no better, no worse. Being 100 percent factory authentic, though, did not mean the car was 100 percent perfect, because Corvettes weren't perfect when they left the factory. A group of judges was assembled from the nation's most knowledgeable Corvette experts and the National Corvette Certification Board was created.

Despite the gas price war and big block Corvettes depreciating, he had to have this car as soon as he heard the reverberating exhaust. Carl knew the LS6 engine was very special, but didn’t really know how rare. (Only 188 from a total production of 21,801.) In 2000 the Corvette was invited to the Bloomington Gold Special Collection, where it received Gold Certification, SURVIVOR and the 1968 CORVETTE COUPE 327/350 HP L79 Benchmark awards. As with Gold Certification judging, these original Corvettes are not judged against other cars, but reviewed individually against the factory standard. In 1991, Bloomington Gold introduced the ultimate and most demanding judging goal: The Benchmark® Award. To achieve Benchmark an unrestored Corvette must receive Gold Certification and pass all four categories of SURVIVOR during the same weekend. 1972 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE 350/200 HP L48 BENCHMARK AWARD - 2012 CHRISTIAN AND CYNTHIA MEYER The original owner (Anne) met Elliott Marantette “Pete” Estes, then president of the Chevrolet division of GM, during a reception in 1971. Anne told Mr. Estes of her dream to someday own a Corvette. This historic Corvette was bestowed with Bloomington Gold 7 Generations honors as well as being a 2012 Great Hall Inductee. The ZR-1 looks like a Corvette. There’s that unmistakable shape but with a notable difference - both in styling and engineering. The ZR-1 featured a three-inch wider rear track, necessitated by its oversize 315/35-17 rear tires. The change required new doors, as well as a new rear fascia that took a convex shape and included new rectangular tail lamps to distinguish it from lesser Corvettes. Under the hood is what really sets the ZR-1 apart. Unique to the ZR-1 is the LT5 engine developed jointly with Lotus and built by Mecury Marine. This 5.7-liter aluminum, 32-valve V8 was ahead of its time and produced an impressive 375 horsepower in 1990 famously assigning the moniker “King of the Hill” to the ZR-1 Corvette. The ZR-1 quickly became the fastest production Corvette GM had ever built in the model’s history reaching a top speed of 180 mph and today is a highly coveted member of the Corvette community.

About “The Quest” Locations Chip Miller loved everything about Corvettes – absolutely everything – and he had a dream. C1 CMAF Tent In 1960, the Corvette won its class during the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France for the first time C2 CarArtWork in Building T in history. Chip wanted to obtain this legendary Corvette from the racing team, restore it, take it to Women’s Oasis France and unite it with its drivers to celebrate the C3 50th Anniversary of that momentous win. Buckshot Corvette Display Finding the car after it disappeared for decades C4 was a great day for Chip and everyone who knew how important it was to him. He had it restored to its race-day glory and was elated to see it come to fruition. Sadly, shortly after this portion of Chip’s quest was complete, he was diagnosed with Amyloidosis and passed away in 2004. Knowing this quest was one of his father’s biggest dreams, his son, Lance, saw it through. C1 Award-winning producer and director Michael Brown documented every step of the way. A 1961 C2, Buckshot was driven by Reading, PA native and Grammy award winner Larry Lombardo. The F/S Stock ’61 tallied a record 12.73 lap time and an even more impressive 107.78 m.p.h. with its win over the Drag’n Wagon as part of the 1968 Nationals at Indianapolis. This win by Lombardo caught the eye of the legendary Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins which then saw Lombardo driving for him thereafter. The rest…as they say, is history.
