7th Annual Battle of the Mascots (B on map) Mascots from the Milwaukee area in a one-of-a-kind soccer scrimmage. One of the most photographed subjects of German Fest, the Maibaum represents each of German Fest’s participating societies. A German tradition, unique Mailbaums are erected May 1st in towns and villages depicting their individual cultural groups and prevalent trades and commerce. They signify the beginning of Spring and are put up with much pomp and celebration. Mardi Gras Show (O on map) Called Karneval, Fastnacht, or Fasching, Mardi Gras events cover the whole carnival season with famous parades held in Cologne, Mainz, and Düsseldorf on Rosenmontag (Rosé Monday) the Monday before Ash Wednesday. This is a showcase of Mardi Gras costumes and traditions on the Briggs & Stratton Stage. Saturday 6:30 pm Marktplatz (J on map) A marketplace featuring vendors of authentic German clothing, steins, nutcrackers, linens, jewelry, hats, candies and more!
