MEDICARE ENROLLMENT EVENTS Monday, November 4th & December 2nd 9:00am-4:00pm The Senior Alliance & the Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) are holding a Medicare enrollment event that will provide individualized counseling with trained MMAP counselors. They are available to answer all of your Medicare & Medicaid questions, enroll you in a Part D or Medicare Advantage plan for 2020, and apply for Medicare Savings and the Extra Help Program for Part D. ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP Thursday, November 7th 10:00am Facilitators from Home Instead Senior Care are available beginning at 10:00am for an open discussion for family, friends and loved ones of those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia related issues. No reservations are necessary. Just drop in. Refreshments will be supplied.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP First and Third Thursdays of the Month 1:30-3:00pm Residential Hospice is hosting a grief support group at the Civic Park Senior Center meet- ing twice a month. This offers a safe place for adults who have experienced a significant loss to come together and talk. The goal of the group is to provide the opportunity to help understand the grieving process by sharing their story and hearing stories of others, and gaining coping skills, companionship, and permission to grieve. The group is led by Kayla Gaddis, Bereavement Coordinator and LLMSW. Please register for this group by calling Residential Hospice Bereavement Department at 1-866-902-5854. The group is free and everyone is welcome.

ASK THE LAWYER November 8th & 22nd 1:30—3:00pm The clinic will operate at the Civic Park Senior Center. The purpose of “Ask the Lawyer” legal clinics are to offer free, limited legal advice to residents of the State of on a first-come, first-served basis. Legal volunteers cannot file court papers for you or appear in court on your behalf. The do not offer legal representation. Their manner of advocacy is direct assis- tance, legal advice and counsel, research and scholarship, education, me- dia outreach, policy development and public programming. Attorneys may charge up to $10.00 for performing each notarial act. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before 3:00pm.

FUSED GLASS SNOWMAN OR TREE ORNAMENT WORKSHOP Tuesday, November 12th at 10:00am $20.00 residents & $22.00 non-residents Join Laurie Freeman from Kiss My Glass as she leads you through a step-by-step instruc- tional course to make a snowman or tree ornament. All of the glass is pre-cut, and you have the opportunity to add your own personal touch of color. Your projects will need to be kiln fired and will be delivered back to you the following week. CIVIC PARK SENIOR CENTER REFUND POLICIES Trips and Events  There are no refunds issued for a trip or event unless your cancelled reservation is filled from a waiting list, sold to the next available registrant or you sell/give the reser- vation to another person.  While every attempt will be made to attend a scheduled trip or event, weather and/or venue issues that require a trip or event to be cancelled will not be refunded, as we are at the discretion of the organization. A “rainout” date will be offered whenever possible and additional fees may apply.  For any trip or event cancelled by the Civic Park Senior Center, a full refund will be is- sued.  Refunds for trips (transportation only) where there is no cost involved, i.e. admissions, tickets to a show or a meal involved. Refunds will only be given once we have reached the “break-even” cost of the trip Mackinac Island “Grand Experience” Trip  Mackinac Island Grand Experience is set by mParks and the Grand Hotel. Full re- funds are given by a specified cut-off date, usually July 31st of the year we attend the “Grand Experience”. Refunds will be given after July 31st if we are able to sell your spot from a waiting list or the first person/couple who sign up after the waiting list has been depleted. (SENIOR CITIZEN ACHIEVEMENT NEEDS) BUS The S.C.A.N. buses provide curb-to-curb rides to residents 62 and over, within the City limit on a donation basis. Rides are available to local shopping districts, grocery stores, Westland Mall (1st & 3rd Thursday 10:30am) and to the senior center. Service hours for the senior center are Monday thru Friday. 1. Senior center: Buses leave from the senior center at 8:30am and we ask that you be ready for pick up by 8:30am. Buses return home 1:00pm Monday–Friday and 3:00pm Mondays, Tuesdays & special event days. 2. Grocery shopping: Monday-Friday (locations vary) depending if you are North or South of 5 Mile Road. See below for shopping locations. Driver will inform riders of the amount of time allowed at the store and pickup location at designated time. 3. Westland Mall: Shopping takes place on the 1st (minimum of 4 riders) & 3rd Thurs- days of every month. Bus departs for pickup at 10:30am so please be ready for pickup at that time. Once at the mall the driver will inform you of the amount of time you will be allowed and the pickup location (usually where you are dropped off).

Please contact (734) 466-2700 to make your advance reservation. There is no charge for this service (donations gratefully accepted). This service fills up quickly so please call as soon as you know the date and time of your appointment. All vehicles are wheelchair equipped. Age 62 and over. Reservations accepted up to 90 days in advance. Maximum of two (2) rides per week. You must make your appointment so that you are able to get home before/no later than 2:30pm. S.C.A.N. Stands for Senior Cizens Achievement Needs and runs shule buses for Livonia residents to: Sen- ior Center, grocery stores, local malls and specialty stores. Buses leave the Center at 8:30am and will pick up within the half hour, depending where you live on the route. So be ready by 8:30am/ Buses pick up Monday- Friday to drop off at the Senior Center beginning at 8:30am. Buses leave the Senior Center Monday & Tues- day at 1:00pm & 3:00pm and Wednesday-Friday at 1:00pm only. Cost is “Donaons Only”.
