For Immediate Release Contacts: Aaron Sickman (651) 602-6009 Sunday, Feb For Immediate Release Contacts: Aaron Sickman (651) 602-6009 Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 Carly Peters (651) 602-6034 Megan Kogut (651) 312-3439 MINNESOTA WILD RECALLS DEFENSEMAN NICK SEELER FROM IOWA DEFENSEMAN VIKTOR LOOV REASSIGNED TO IOWA SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Nick Seeler from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) and reassigned defenseman Viktor Loov (pronounced LOOV) to Iowa. Seeler, 24 (6/3/93), has recorded 12 points (2-10=12) and a team-leading 74 penalty minutes (PIM) in 49 games with Iowa this season. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Eden Prairie, Minn., tallied five assists and led Iowa with 109 PIM in 57 games during his first professional season in 2016-17. He ranked T-2nd in games played amongst team rookies and third amongst AHL rookies in penalty minutes. Seeler collected 10 assists in 36 games during his junior season with the University of Minnesota and led the team with a plus-21 rating, 43 PIM and 91 blocked shots in 2015-16. He redshirted the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules after playing two seasons at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Seeler helped Eden Prairie High School win the 2011 and 2009 Minnesota Class AA State Hockey Championships at Xcel Energy Center and was a First Team All-State pick following his senior season in 2010-11. Seeler was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (131st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in Saint Paul. He has not appeared in an NHL game and will wear sweater No. 36 with Minnesota. He would become the 238th player (221st skater) to appear in a regular-season game with the Wild all-time, the 25th Minnesotan to do so (23rd skater). Seeler would also become the 79th player to make his NHL debut with Minnesota all-time, the third this season (Luke Kunin and Justin Kloos) and the fifth Minnesota native to make his League debut with the Wild all-time (Jarod Palmer, Nate Prosser, Chad Rau, Justin Kloos). Loov, 25 (11/16/92), was acquired by Minnesota on Feb. 8 from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forwards Christoph Bertschy and Mario Lucia. He totaled 17 points (5-12=17) and 45 PIM in 36 games with Binghamton (AHL) this season. The 6-foot-3, 216-pound native of Sodertalje, Sweden, recorded two assists and a plus-4 rating in four career NHL games with Toronto in 2015-16. He’s notched 59 points (16-43=59) and 178 PIM in 216 career AHL games with Toronto, Albany and Binghamton (2014-18). Loov was originally selected by Toronto in the seventh round (209th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. The trophy is presented annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. Stalock, 32 (7/28/87), posted a 20-11-4 record with a 2.67 goals-against average (GAA), a .910 save percentage (SV%) and four shutouts in 38 games played (36 starts) and became the fifth goaltender in franchise history to record 20 wins in a season. He set career highs in games played, games started, wins, shutouts (ranked T-5th in the NHL), minutes played (2,177), shots against (1,082) and saves (985). Per NHL Stats, the six-foot, 200-pound native of Saint Paul, Minn., is the seventh different Minnesota-born goalie to reach 20-plus wins in a single season. Stalock tied his career best making seven consecutive starts from Feb. 25-March 7, made a season-high 40 saves at San Jose on March 5 and recorded a career-high, four-game win streak Feb. 21-28. The left-glove netminder registered a 26-save shutout in his first start of the season on Oct. 14 at Ottawa, the second time in his career he recorded a shutout in his first start of a single season and became the fourth Minnesota-born goalie in NHL history to do so.

They've handled the Minnesota Wild in the first two games off their playoff series, but the Winnipeg Jets have proven to be no match for Mother Nature. A record-setting spring snowstorm meant the Jets were unable to land in Minneapolis Saturday afternoon and forced the charter flight to be diverted to Duluth, 250 kilometres northeast. After sitting on the tarmac for a couple hours waiting to see if an opportunity to get into the Twin Cities might open up, a decision was made to turn the plane around and head back to Winnipeg by late afternoon. All planes were grounded at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport for much of the day as the area was under a blizzard warning, with some estimates of more than 30 centimetres of snow. The Jets will now fly out of Winnipeg Sunday morning, which is a major change to normal game- day routine. The puck is set to drop for Game 3 at 6 p.m. in St Paul, with the Jets up 2-0 in the best-of-seven series. Winnipeg held a brief practice and media availability Saturday morning at the Bell MTS Iceplex, moving up the time because of the storm system.
