After experiencing several years of strong, positive financial growth, together with ever improving National Team results, combined with a steady League organization and strong development programs, our expectations were high for 2016/17. Both national sides, Men’s and Women’s, played exceptionally well in the tournaments they were in during the year. We invested heavily in people and marketing expenses throughout the year and despite a strong objective that we would still make reasonable money by year end, we did not achieve that target which was disappointing. Partly as a result of our over ambitious and not thoroughly researched and executed dream of using the Guangzhou Stadium as a ground, the prioritizing of League fixtures fitting into the National Team program, plus the loss of our previous Cricket Operations Manager at the start of the 2016/17 League planning process, we ended up with an ever changing League and games schedule which was frankly very frustrating to many, and we must apologize for the scheduling difculties in which our local Leagues operated last year. There is a determination for a complete change in this area and, with the experience of our failure last season, every efort will be made by all concerned in ensuring our League programs for 2017/18 are sustainable, logical, and fair to all the parties in our Association’s “Three Legged Stool”.

    Parnell Cricket Club Incorporated - Established 1858 Update No. 100: February 2016 NZ Cricket Awards – Thursday, 25 February Parnell’s Bryan Haggitt was awarded NZ Cricket’s Volunteer of the Year for 2015 by Sir Richard Hadlee NZ CRICKET’S “VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR – 2015”: Bryan Haggitt was presented with this Community Award last Thursday. The citation for his nomination read: “Bryan Haggitt has shown a huge amount of passion and commitment towards the Parnell CC as a player and administrator since joining in 1954 as a 12 year old. His contribution to the club, NZ’s oldest having been founded in 1858 and currently with over 750 players, has been extraordinary over the past 60 years or so and includes the following: Committee member (1964/65, 1996/97 to 2007/08) Hon. Treasurer (2003/04) Hon. Secretary and Board member (2008/09 to 2014/15) President (2007 to 2011) Life Member since 2011 Bryan is a past winner of the Auckland CA Carson Cup as Club Administrator of the Year (2010/11), as well as PCC’s W J Dinnison Cup for Prowess, Sportsmanship and Club Spirit (inaugural winner in 1957/58). In addition he has been the collator of all club playing results and statistics, and publisher of the PCC annual report since 2006, a very fine publication that covers the playing results of the junior and senior sections of the club, PCC representative players over that season, club finances, club officers and bearers going back to 1884, aggregated club playing records and statistics going back to 1894/95 etc., (please see 2014/15 version attached).
