Population of Municipalities: 225.000 (2007) Main Beneficiaries: Citizens Population benefiting: 205.000 (projection 2020 – data feasibility study) PROJECT OBJECTIVES • To improve potable water supply, operational efficiency of the PUC-s, reduce health hazards, improve protection of health, and create the pre-requisites for sustainable demographic and economic development. • To integrate a series of communal water supply systems and transform them into a technically, financially and institutionally sustainable regional water supply scheme. TOTAL BUDGET: App. € 12,432,000 (PHASE I) • To optimize exploitation and improve sanitary protection of local water resources. EU DONATION (IPA 2010): € 7,072,000 • To comply with the relevant national and EU regulations on public (Works € 6,371,000 and TA € 701,000) water supply and related public health, environmental protection issues. Notes • The works for EU – Phase I and NIP – Phase I were on track to be completed on time in January 2015 and had reached a completion rate of about 60% (EU), 85% and 19% (NIP) in May 2014, when substantial damage was caused to the works due to very heavy rainfall and severe flooding in the area. Also similar damage was causes to the Phase I works financed by the GoS. • At present it is not known how much delay and costs are to be expected because of this. For the time being, it is estimated that the works could be completed by the Autumn of 2015. • The present fact sheet does not include the remaining works, necessary for completion of the Rovni Dam.
