We invite you to join us as a sponsor for the 19th Annual Joe Morgan Celebrity Golf Tournament. This very special event will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017, at the Diablo Country Club.
Our day-long golf extravaganza will feature several local celebrities and sports stars who will team up with your foursome for a beautiful day on the green. As our special guest, you and your foursome will enjoy breakfast with our celebrities, a catered lunch, contest and beverage holes throughout the course, and a gourmet dinner – featuring an awards ceremony, scholarship presentations and a lively auction.
Each year, the tournament raises funds to underwrite and advance the mission of Summit Bank Foundation. Our College Scholarship program began in 2005, and provides Oakland high school students the necessary financial support to continue their education. Our Cancer Research program began in 2013, and funds research at UCSF Helen Diller Comprehensive Cancer Research Center. The program has funded clinical trials for acute myeloid leukemia, breast cancer, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will establish a new scholarship fund – the David J Casper Athletic Scholarship. This scholarship will benefit a student each year from Bishop O’ Dowd High School in East Oakland. David has been a long time supporter of Summit Bank Foundation and our scholarship program and we are thrilled to partner with him to help further our mission.

David J. Casper played in the NFL as a Tight End for the Oakland Raiders and Houston Oilers. He was named a five-time All-Pro and All-AFC player. He participated in five Pro Bowls, is a 1977 Oakland Raider Super Bowl XI Champion and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as an Oakland Raider in 2002. He was the 1973 Captain of the University of Notre Dame National Championship Team and was the Offensive Most Valuable Player. He was nicknamed ‘the Ghost’ while at Notre Dame. His “Ghost to the Post” catch beating the Baltimore Colts in double overtime became infamous in the NFL as did the uncanny “Holy Roller” play beating the San Diego Chargers with zero time left on the clock.v
