ANNANDALE CHAPTER

Quilts are sorted by member’s last name. Celia Member: Lois Beach "I belong to a group of quilters that experiment with new techniques. We chose animal portraits. We each chose a photo of an animal (amazingly we all chose a dog) and created a quilt. Celia is a family member and I think my rendition looks just like her." Pattern Designed By: Lois Beach Quilted By: Lois Beach Size: 21"w x 26"h 100 The Nature Quilt Member: Lois Beach "The nature quilt is the result of experimenting with stencils and paint. Our small group worked with the medium for several hours, We then divided the results between us with the challenge of creating a 36 X 36 inch quilt. I added the funky squares to complete the challenge." Pattern Designed By: Lois Beach Quilted By: Lois Beach Size: 36"w x 36"h 101 Eco Scraps Member: Lois Beach "A couple of years ago I made a pineapple quilt. I had so many usable scraps left that I put them in a box for future use. I decided it was time to use them. Eco Scraps is the result. i used every bit of the scraps and only had to add fabric for the border, binding, and back. Quite a feat." I bought the giraffe in West Africa over 30 years ago and recently rediscovered it in a trunk in my basement. The border is made up of different pieces of factory- produced from Ghana." Pattern Designed By: Barbara Brown Quilted By: Barbara Brown Size: 31"w x 42"h 419 Fade In, Fade Out Member: Martha Bush "I worked on this quilt off and on for almost three years. English paper piecing is a great pick-up-and-go technique. Some of these hexagons were done on airplanes, about 25 of them were sewn together on a month’s stay in Singapore, and the rest sat in a basket by my sewing chair waiting their turn. " Pattern Designed By: Katja Marek Quilted By: Cindy Luby Size: 79"w x 76"h 3 The Bug Zoo Member: Martha Bush "When my son was small, he loved visiting the Insect Zoo at the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum. There he could watch the employees feed the tarantula (live crickets!), pet a giant cockroach, watch the bees fly in and out of the hive, and observe many other insects in their cages. It’s no surprise that he grew up to be a scientist." Pattern Designed By: Suzanne Marshall Quilted By: Martha Bush Size: 19"w x 49"h 56 Round Robin 2018-19
