The city is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe and it's the birthplace of Fado. After free time to enjoy Coimbra we set off again to Fatima, the center of the Christian Faith and World Pilgrimage Sanctuary. We visit The Chapel of the Apparitions, heart of the sanctuary, with the tombs of the three shepherds, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. DAY 6 Destination Fatima Batalha Nazare Alcobaca Lisbon Meals included Breakfast Hotel Hotel Roma, or similar This morning we are on the move again. Our first stop is the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style considered a World Heritage place by UNESCO. We then continue to the picturesque fishing town of Nazare. and Alcobaca to marvel at its Gothic church and Cistercian monastery, which origins date back to the XII C. Rinally we reach Lisbon. Tonight we will experience a traditional dinner including a show of Fado, typical Portuguese song and music. However, many urban areas have preserved quite interesting examples of geoheritage. Urban geoheritage can and must be known and promoted, by setting up geotourism routes for national and foreign visitors. The value that these geotourism routes add to the common tourist guides may represent a precious asset to a segment of tourists increasingly interested on the integration of natural heritage and other types of heritage, and may contribute to the growth of national tourism industry. In this paper the basic conceptualization it will best set and applied to Lisbon Metropolitan Area and, as a still preliminary approach, to the Lisbon city itself.
