Alan Embree of Summit and Ryan Starwalt of Crescent Valley will lead the South team. Colin Griffin of Jesuit and Erich Harjo of Hood River will lead the North team. Embree recently coach the Storm to the 5A state championship over Hood River Valley, and was honored as the 5A Coach of the Year. Embree played for 10 different major-league teams from 1992-2009 as a left-handed relief specialist and was part of the Red Sox 2004 World Series championship club. He is also the pitching coach for the Bend Elks of the West Coast League during the summer. Starwalt played at Philomath High School and then coached at PHS before moving to Crescent Valley. He led the Raiders to the 2016 Mid-Willamette Conference championship and to the semifinals of the 5A state tournament, where they were eliminated by Summit. A Jesuit graduate who played baseball at Clackamas Community College and at Willamette University, Griffin led the Crusaders to the 2016 6A state title in his second year as their head coach, and was named the 6A Coach of the Year. He coached at Lakeridge for seven seasons before returning to JHS in 2014.
