STUDENT GUIDE TO THE CAREERS CONVENTION

Whether you are in Year 9 attending your first Convention and just starting to think about your career interests or whether you are in sixth form and wondering about the next step, accurate and good information advice and guidance is essential to making an informed choice about your future.

So take advantage of this Convention to

• Speak to professionals from a wide range of career sectors who can provide accurate, up to-date information on opportunities and routes into different careers.

• Discover opportunities available in higher and further education from representatives offering a wide range of courses.

• Remember your own school careers advisor/co-ordinator can help you explore your options and give you information on careers websites that can explore your interests and skills. Mrs Ruby is the Careers Advisor at Bournemouth School For Girls.

In order to gain maximum benefit:

• Spend some time beforehand selecting the areas which interest you.

• Plan which talks to attend – there will be talks on a wide range of subjects and careers. Venues and timings are listed in this programme.

• Make a note of the questions you want answered. You can use the back of this booklet to make notes.
