Gmail  This a free web-based email system that gives you MANY different organizational features. Favorite feature: “Undo” a sent email (feature can be turned on under “Settings,” then “Labs”)

Google Calendar 1) Public and private calendar options 2) If public, can be “synced” with other 3) Different colors can be assigned to multiple calendars to keep things organized (i.e., marching band, percussion, and color guard calendars) 4) Can be embedded into a website

Google Sites 1) Create a site (you can have multiple) 2) Select a template and give it a name 3) Get an address (sites.google.com/site/vierainstrumentalmusic) 4) Register a domain name (Register.com, GoDaddy.com); the domain name (www.vieramusic.com) “points” to the full site address 5) Add “Gadgets,” “Google Products,” and other common website tools; all editing takes place from your internet browser 6) Post important announcements 7) Embed your Google Calendar 8) Post galleries of pictures using Picasa 9) Upload documents and for your students to print/review for themselves

Google Drive (formerly called ) 1) Google “Drive” is a place to store and share files & documents in “the cloud” (up to 15 GB) 2) Files can be accessed via an internet browser or through an application you can install on your computer’s desktop 3) Create files (comparable to Microsoft Word): Document = “Word”file Presentation = Powerpoint Spreadsheet = Excel Form = web-based form Drawing = MS Paint Map = Map (duh) 4) When uploading a file for storage in your Google Drive, you have the option of converting certain documents into their comparable Google format  If you choose to leave the file “as is,” it is simply stored in the drive, and must be downloaded and opened with the program in which it was originally created  If you choose to convert, you will be able to edit the file online, but you may lose some of the formatting details; files can be edited by multiple users simultaneously 5) Customizable web-forms can be created that will allow you to easily collect data into one place  Create a form with specific questions and options for answers  Provide a link to the form’s web-address  When submitted, data is collected into a Google Spreadsheet  Embed the form into a webpage, email the link to others, etc. 6) Sharing Documents  Documents can be shared with others, but they will need a to do so  You can manage access to the documents (view-only, can edit)  Some school districts have set-up Google Drive sharing for their employees (Brevard County uses normal login credentials)

YouTube is now managed through your Google account!  Upload videos  Create playlists  Embed in your Google Site

Google Voice is a service that gives you one number for all your phones, tied to your Google account (voice.google.com)  Register for a number (321-426-TUBA)  Forward calls to a secondary number (your personal phone?)  Voicemails and texts will appears in the Google Voice Inbox  Texting possible from the Inbox (mass text as well)

Picasa is Google’s web-based photo service that allows you to organize, edit, & share photos  You can add a Picasa “Gadget” to your Google Site that will display specific photo galleries

Google+ is Google’s answer to Facebook; it is a social media website where you can share pictures, post , and create “circles” of friends

Google Scholar provides a search of scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources, including theses, books, abstracts and articles.  Possibly helpful in looking for research articles for Professional Growth Plans?

Google Maps is an application for getting driving directions, measuring distances, and other useful tools.

Google Wallet makes it easy to pay - in stores, online or to anyone in the US with a Gmail address. It works with any debit or credit card, on every mobile carrier.
