Silver Key, north of Bowman's Beach, is best known as a nesting habitat for two bald eagles, the presence of terns and black skimmers, other shorebirds and 32 . species of plants, according to Erick Lindblad, execu- tive director of Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation. . In a sense, it was a triumph particularly for Sanibel resident Tim Gardner, whose home on Clam Bayou is adjacent to Silver Key and who has spent six years in fund raising and letter-writing campaigns to block a proposed bridge to Silver Key by developers.
