Here we are in mid-February and this is our second encounter of the season which is taking place just 7 days after the away version as a result of the recent weather. That game was not one of our better ones and we went down by the only goal of a very disappointing game to a club under new management for several times this season. Recent weather has not been too kind but last Saturday we did manage to get a game played at table=topper Ware on their excellent artificial surface and we came away with a point following a spirited showing as just reward. Unfortunately, Alex Salmon picked up another injury and must be considered doubtful for tonight’s game but on the positive side he was replaced by Chris Ovenden who managed to carry on through to the end and is now looking well on the road to recovery himself. -

Advanced Information
Title information Who Ate All the Squid? Football Adventures in South Korea By Devon Rowcliffe Key features • First English-language book to explore Korean football, filled with human-interest stories of triumph, tragedy and loss; and surreal anecdotes about living in South Korea • Previously untold story of successful British footballers forced to confront personal demons while working overseas • Examines the tumultuous lives of former Chelsea manager Ian Porterfield and Norwich striker Jamie Cureton • Written by Devon Rowcliffe, a columnist with a master’s degree in Asian studies who wrote about Korean football for the Korea Times • Publicity campaign planned including radio, newspapers, websites, podcasts and magazines Description When a struggling Korean football club wants to transform its fortunes, who does it turn to? A former Chelsea manager and a trio of players with Premier League experience, of course. Who Ate All the Squid charts the year Ian Porterfield managed faltering K League giant Busan IPark. The Sunderland FA Cup legend lured three players from English football out to Korea: striker Jamie Cureton, an ex-England youth international who turned down Manchester United; Andy Cooke, a former Burnley and Stoke City forward who started his career building cowsheds; and Jon Olav Hjelde, who bolstered Nottingham Forest after achieving UEFA Champions League heroics with Rosenborg. How will the players cope with South Korea’s unfamiliar culture and language? Can the Brits overcome personal demons, including car crashes, divorces and alcoholism? And does a British football revolution really stand a chance of succeeding in Northeast Asia? The book also casts a humorous glimpse at the world’s game inside South Korea. -

Marlow (BFB Cup)
HARTLEY WINTNEY FC HISTORY Hartley Wintney Football Club History Hartley Wintney Football Club was founded in the North Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney in 1897 and played in an area adjacent to the village's golf and cricket clubs, the facilities not quite being up to today's standard, with only a horse trough or the pond to remove the heavy mud from a sub-standard pitch. The Club's nickname of 'The Row' comes from 'Hartley Row', a former hamlet within Hartley Wintney. In 1953, the club moved to its present ground in Green Lane, known as 'The Memorial Ground'. A pavilion was erected and the team played in the Basingstoke League and, later, in the Aldershot League. In 1973, an influx of players under new manager Glynn Howell put the club firmly on the local football map. In his six year reign, the team won the Aldershot Senior League three times in succession, and the Aldershot Senior Cup. After several seasons in the Aldershot Senior League, Hartley were admitted to the Combined Counties League (previously Surrey Senior League). After the first couple of seasons and two changes of management, the club appointed Ian Bedford, and once again an influx of senior players brought Hartley success. Within his three years in man- agement, they gained trophies including the League Title (1982-1983) and Runners Up (1981-1982), Aldershot Senior Cup Winners (1980-1981), and George Allen Cup Win- ners (1981-1982). They were also Runners Up in the League Cup (1982-1983) and Al- dershot Senior Cup (1981-1982). -
