Memorial Ceremony to Honor the Life and Judicial Service of the Honorable James J. Brady – April 20, 2018

BATON ROUGE, LA – On Friday April 20, 2018, judges, staff and friends of the District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana will hold a memorial ceremony to honor the late Honorable James J. Brady, Senior United States District Judge.

The ceremony is open to the public and will begin at 10:00 AM in the Russell B. Long Federal Building and United States Courthouse, Courtroom 1 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Judge Brady was born in St. Louis, and received a Bachelor of Arts from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1966. Judge Brady then earned a Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Law Center in 1969, where he also served as student body president. He served in private practice from 1969 to 2000.

On July 14, 1999, Judge Brady was nominated by President Bill Clinton to a seat on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, which had been vacated by the Honorable John V. Parker. Judge Brady was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 24, 2000, and he received his commission on May 25, 2000. Judge Brady assumed senior status on December 31, 2013, but he continued hearing a full docket of cases. He served as a Senior Judge until his death on December 9, 2017.
