A key objective of this process is to develop a plan Friends of Tidbinbilla that the members fully own and that supports the organisation and members ParkCare interests into the future. The intention is also to look at potential future revenue sources for the SACTCG. There will be a members’ workshop in the 30 April coming months to discuss the plan. Gardens Green Army Teams 7 May The Aboriginal Green Army team began their training on the 20th March and Farrer Ridge ParkCare Martine has been working with them on lots of great projects already.     FLOOD INFORMATION FOR TUGGERANONG CREEK OVERVIEW Tuggeranong Creek is one of eight main water catchments in the ACT. Catchments are areas, usually bounded by hills, where the rain drains into the soil and streams and feeds into a river, creek or drainage line. In Canberra’s past, many natural waterways were converted into the familiar concrete storm drain channels as new areas of the city were developed. The Tuggeranong Creek catchment is the most southern of Canberra’s catchments, extending from the Monaro Highway, south-east of Theodore, to the Lake Tuggeranong outlet at Athllon Drive. The catchment covers approximately 69 square kilometres and spans approximately 5 kilometres north–south and 13 kilometres east–west. The catchment is highly urbanised (currently 72%), with some forested areas on the eastern fringes. Residential development began in the early 1970s. Ongoing development, including infill and redevelopment, continues. This information sheet outlines information about past and potential flooding for the Tuggeranong Creek Catchment and what is being done to mitigate the risk of flooding. The risk of flooding in Canberra is low.   • Objectives of the Carp Management Plan for the Upper Murrumbidgee Demonstration Reach
    5. Carp Reduction Measures Before proceeding to examine and recommend specific site-based interventions there are some over-arching issues that also form part of this Plan. These are: • Promoting community engagement; • Addressing priority knowledge gaps; and, • Operating policy or regulatory 'levers' to assist carp control. 5.1 Promoting community engagement Under the UMDR project there is a separate Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness (CEPA) Plan. This recognises that any improvement in the condition of the UMDR and its tributaries can only occur if the associated communities are fully engaged and committed to helping to achieve the objectives. Carp are particularly abundant throughout Lake Burley Griffin, Jerrabomberra wetland, the lower reaches of the Molonglo River and the Queanbeyan River. An annual 'carp out' event around Lake Burley Griffin attracts huge interest. This year (2010), 2,049 people registered to fish and a total of 691 carp (1,256 kg) and 883 (164 kg) of Redfin were caught in the day – see Plates 17 and 18 below). It also takes into account the priorities recognised in this Carp Reduction Plan.
