Where then did the weeds come from?’ 28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’” 36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” 37 He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. 40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. There are 30 spaces within the building. You will be directed to one of the places. Toilets will be open. Please wear a mask . - In order to manage services at this time anyone attending will need to register their wish on our website Callington Cluster or ring Amy Wheeler 07984 199 930. - Once we have 30 names you will be transferred to the following week’s list. All online forms need to be completed by 6pm on the Friday before the service and any phone bookings need to be made by Thursday at 6pm. Only bookings by phone and via the website will be accepted. - It is because we normally have over 60 attending our morning service that we have to take a longer view on gathering. it is hoped that most people would be able to attend on at least two occasions in a month. Services resuming at Stoke Sunday July 19th The First Service will be at 10am on Sunday 19th and will be led by Dominic. There will be no singing and no refreshments served afterwards. Social Distancing regulations will be strictly adhered to, hand sanitisers will be in use and names and phone numbers of attendees will be recorded and kept for 21 days in line with the Governments Track and Trace Requirements. Attendees will be shown to their seats and we ask that everyone cooperates with us to ensure we can continue to worship in our Church. Morning Worship Sunday 11.15 am The congregation will be asked to bring and use their own service sheets that were given to them before lockdown, or be given one to take away and bring each time they attend. St Paul's Church Update St Paul’s will be resuming Informal Worship services on 26th July, 2020 at the normal time of 9.30 am. The Risk Assessment (provided by Truro Diocese) has been completed. There is a sanitiser point at the entrance, which is also the exit. To maintain social distance, the 20 worshipers will be directed to a seat by the Sides person, where there is a pew cushion and a Bible. The Sides person will also take a record of the people attending for Track and Trace purposes. Although no singing is allowed, the service will follow the normal pattern with a Power Point presentation and unfortunately, no refreshments after the service. The CrossLink toilet will be open. To comply with all the regulations it is very unlikely that St Paul’s will hold a Holy Communion service in the near future.     This is not a complete record of all those that fell during the two wars, with some of the fallen having no information available whatsoever. However there are 222 names from within the district that I have been able to provide a narrative for and this booklet hopefully will provide a lasting memory for future generations to view and understand the lives behind the names on the various memorials around Launceston. It has not been easy piecing together the fragments of information particularly from the first world war where many records were destroyed in the blitz of the second world war, but there are many resources now available that do make the research a little easier. Hopefully over time the information that is lack- ing in making this a complete story will be discovered and I can bring all the re- cords up to date. Of course there have been many people that have helped and I would like to thank Peter Bailey, Claudine Malaquin, Dennis Middleton, Jim Edwards, Martin Kel- land, Grant Lethbridge Morris and Michael Willis for their invaluable help in compiling this homage plus the resources that are freely available at Launceston Library. About UK Census Returns About Free Census (FreeCEN) was started early in 2000 with a pilot project for the 1891 census returns for Devon. The aim of Free Census is to transcribe all the UK 19th century census returns. It is part of FreeUKGEN and is a sister project to FreeBMD and FreeREG. The intention is that all three of the UK primary sources for the family historian will be online and “free to view.” Six months after the Devon project started, the Cornwall 1891 commenced. Most English and Welsh counties are now covered for the 1891, with the Scottish projects concentrating on the 1841. There are several English 1861 projects, using commercially produced discs and two English 1841 projects, including Cornwall.

    Cornwall Council Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment ANNEX 5 – Chronology of Major Flood Events in Cornwall June 2011 1800 – 1899 A storm caused coastal flooding affecting a number of communities along the south coast on 19-20 January 1817. Polperro harbour was destroyed by this storm and Looe was badly damaged. Truro suffered from numerous flooding events during the 1800s (1811, 1815, 1818, 1838, 1841, 1844, 1846, 1848 (twice), 1869, 1875, 1880, 1882 (twice), 1885, 1894 and 1899). These were usually associated with high river flows coinciding with high tides. Known as the Great Flood of 16 July 1847, due to an intense rainstorm event on Davidstow Moor water collected in the valley and forced a passage of water down the Camel and Inney. Bodmin - Dunmere Valley and the whole area below Dunmere Hill was flooded by the River Camel. Dunmere Bridge was washed away as was the new 40 feet (12 m) high railway bridge. At St. Breward, bridges from Gam Bridge to Dunmere were washed away by a wall of water 12 to 18 feet (3.5-5.5 m) above normal along the River Camel. The devastating floods that swept down from Davidstow Moor washed away all but two of the bridges along the River Camel - Wadebridge and Helland being the only survivors. Serious flooding occurred in Par and St Blazey in November 1852. November 1875 saw heavy rain resulting in serious flooding in Bude, Camelford, Polmorla, Hayle, St Just, Penzance and Truro. Extreme rainfall in October 1880 resulted in serious flooding in both Bodmin and Truro. High tides at the end of September and early October 1882 resulted in flooding in Boscastle, Truro, Wadebridge and Padstow.
