If the sire is Peruvian or Part Peruvian, he must be registered as a Breeding , see NAPHA rules. A copy of the certificate of registration (both sides) of any registered parent is required. This applies to non-Peruvians as well. DNA typing and Verification of parentage with the Purebred Peruvian parent, is required prior to the registration of a horse in the Part-Blood Registry. Verification of the non-Peruvian horse need not be verified. In such cases, only the name of the horse will be listed on the papers. A Stallion Report, listing the breeding, must be properly filed with NAPHA or another breed registry prior to the birth of the foal. If filed with another registry, a copy must be sent directly from that registry to the PP-BR. If a Stallion Report has not been filed, parental verification is required. To be eligible for parental verification, both the sire & dam must also have a DNA record, which may require testing of the sire &/or dam. Examples: Peruvian Paso Stallion and Quarter Horse . A stallion report listing the breeding in question must be filed with NAPHA or PHAC prior to January 10th following breeding to verify the parentage of the foal. If that is not done, DNA typing of sire, dam and foal will be required for Parental Verification. Quarter Horse Stallion and Peruvian Paso Mare. A stallion report must be filed with the NAPHA or AQHA listing the breeding in question prior to January 10th following breeding to verify the parentage of the foal.
