Good Sam Mallards June 7-10 campout was at Woolly Hollow SP where hosts Jean and Jerry Hosto dec- orated with festive American flag banners to celebrate the “Flag Day’ theme of the campout. Joining the Hostos were Pat Collier, Danny & Juanita Hutchinson, and Dave & Lenora Murray. We enjoyed Danny’s grilled bass and heard about many recent trips and we played dominoes and Se- quence before lunch. Lunch was in Greenbrier at the Wagon Wheel restaurant--great food, reasona- bly priced, and generous portions make this a go-to place for future trips. Then it was time for Spin- ner and Hand and Foot. Juanita fixed a pot of beans with ham and cornbread for dinner, with great desserts from all. Saturday the games continued. The Hostos prepared individual chicken meatloaves (which were very tasty) served with salsa and cheese. Magnificent! As usual, we all ate way too much. After dinner President Dave Murray opened our short business meeting; the short meeting gave us time to sit back and enjoy the cool breezes off the lake. Sunday after a delightful breakfast, Jean Hosto led the devotions, then passed out flag lapel pins to everyone to honor Flag Day June 14. Then, sadly it was then time to head home. Thank you Jerry & Jean Hosto for a delightful campout!

Eight rigs of Melon City Sams met Saturday afternoon, June 2 at Lake Catherine SP. President Calvin Stovall brought the meeting to order and thanked the campout hosts (It began May 30th and ended June 3rd.) Be- cause of the oppressive heat, the meeting was brief. Kay Smith, our own "crafty lady", showed us how to make playing card holders from fabric and cd's for possibly a potential fundraiser. Shopping trips to Hot Springs (one included the ladies eating lunch at El Padrino's Mexican Grill - delicious!) and some card games rounded out the activities.

The July meeting of Melon City Sams was held the 14th at the clubhouse at Texarkana RV Park with 9 rigs pre- sent. President Calvin Stovall opened the meeting; appreciation was extended to all who helped. Ironwood Grill was a dinner location. Ruth Ann Hairston provided information on a new charity for the chapter to assist, if willing. It is called Hempstead County Closet and will begin collecting clothing, toiletries and other items in Au- gust, specifically for foster children and the families who foster them. Following her presentation, a motion was made and seconded for the Melon City Sams to contribute to this cause, beginning with our August meeting. Also, an Open House will be held August 5 at the Spring Hill First United Church parsonage; and members were encouraged to attend to learn more and see how the Hempstead County Closet donations will be administered.

June was a quiet month for Arkansas One. The campout at Leisure Landing had to be cancelled. Tommy & Phyllis Clark (and grand- baby Sawyer) came and also Rex & Katy Weaver. On Sunday, June 17 seven of the Spa City Sams chapter rigs met up at Waveland Park, AR

Monday, the early bird walkers were joined by Don Dale’s new pup “Casper”, Jim & Sandy Fryar and Kay Shear- er. It was fun having quite a few people walking together. Casper proved to tucker out quickly so that was the only time he walked with us this trip. The Shearer’s and Fryar’s took a canoe/kayak journey on Blue Mountain Lake which they enjoyed very much. Truly Shearer learned how to swim while they were out

Tuesday, after walking, we left for Mount Magazine Lodge. We enjoyed our lunch and had a great server who kept us entertained. We explored the grounds of the Lodge a little while then we headed down to Paris to go to the coal miner memorial. The museum was closed but we explored the grounds a bit. The geocachers in the group found the cache there.

Wednesday after enjoying our salad potluck, we played Tabuu and were joined by several children from the campground who loved to visit with us and our dogs and who spent quite a while with us over the week

On Thursday, when it came time for lunch we went into Booneville to Reid’s Barbecue. This is a family run restaurant that is open Thursday- Saturday and had room for 14 of us around 1:00 in the afternoon. Everyone agreed that this was the best barbecue they’ve eaten. The side dishes were delicious, too, as were the fried pies; and the servers were all very friendly.

This was a nice park.
