New requiring licences (CITES certificates and permits)

CITES Conference of Parties 17 (CoP 17) is taking place in South on 24 September 2016.

At this conference certain species are proposed to go from not being listed at all, straight to Appendix I.

The species include:

Cnemaspis psychedelica (Psychedelic rock ) (Turquoise dwarf gecko) Lanthanotidae spp. (Earless monitor lizards) Telmatobius coleus (Titicaca water frog) Polymita spp. (Cuban landsnails) Abies numidica (Algerian fir)

If these proposals are adopted, CITES documents will be required for import, export, re-export and commercial use (commonly known as an Article 10).

If you are trading in newly listed CITES species you will be required to provide supporting evidence when applying for CITES documentation, the following list, (not exhaustive) may be used for these purposes.

All applications will be processed on a case by case basis.

 airway bill numbers  breeding records  address and contact details of breeder  any other supporting information such as receipts or other transaction details  log books of current stock including numbers of specimens held and dated  Veterinary records  dated photographic evidence, etc.

There are also other species listings being proposed, for example the African Grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus) going from Appendix II to Appendix I.

We therefore strongly advise you ensure you have the relevant evidence to support future applications, as and when required.
