RECOMMENDATIONS:

A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square southerly of and between numbered locations 38g and 38G as shown on Sheet 17 of Plan D-13788 for the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the installation of the name of Colin Firth at 6714 Hollywood Boulevard.

B. Inform the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce of the Council's action on this matter.

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on January 13, 2011.

DISCUSSION:

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame the name of Colin Firth. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, January 13,2010 at 11:30 a.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23".

COLIN FIRTH -(Category -MOTION PICTURES) Requested star location to be 6714 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pig n' Whistle Pub on tl1e South side of the street. The star for COLIN FIRTH will he placed in the second row next to the original row closest to the property, those squares have no numbers. The stars situated in the original row where star is near are BOB BARKER (38g) to the east and EVE ARDEN (38G) to the'west. According to sheet #17 plan 13788, COLIN FIRTH'S star has no designated number. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11:30 a.m.

Firth won the BAFTA Award in 2010 for his performance in 's "," which also earned him nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Award. Firth received international critical acclaim for his starring role as 'George Falconer' in "A Single Man," based on Christopher Isherwood's 1964 novel, including being honored with the at the 2009 and the Performance of the Year Award at the 2010 Santa Barbara Intemational Film Festival, as well as the Critics Circle Film Award for British Actor of the Year. HOLLYWOOD, CA.-A new group of entertainers in motion pictures, television, live theater, and recording have been selected to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was announced by the Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. These individuals were chosen from among hundreds of nominations to the committee at a meeting held June 15, and ratified by the Chamber's Board of Directors.

The Walk of Fame recipients for th.e year 2010 are: MOTION PICTURES: James Cameron, , John Cusack, Colin Firth, Gale Anne Hurd, Alan Menken, Randy Newman, , and Mark Wahlberg
