Healthier Futures, Black Country and West Birmingham 19 Incentivising GP Legacy and Welcome Back Scheme

Are you a GP that is seriously considering retirement or let the profession but still feel you want to offer something to General Practice and your patients?

If so, we have the perfect scheme for you! The incentivising GP Legacy and Welcome Back Scheme aims to work with a small number of GPs and Practices on an individual basis to offer:

Healthier Futures, Black Country and West Birmingham 20 Incentivising GP Legacy and Welcome Back Scheme

The funding for this scheme would be dedicated to financially incentivising practices to allow the GP to effectively slow down by offering the standard STP agreed backfill rate plus on-costs to the practice. The costing model below works on the following assumptions:-

That this scheme would initially work with a maximum of 2 GPs across each CCG area (total 8) for the legacy cohort.

That each GP would move their working patterns from an average of 18 appointments a session to 12, a reduction of 6 appointments per session (and 1 hour in time).

That the STP would offer 50% of backfill costs to cover up to a maximum of 4 sessions per week which would be equivalent which would equate to 4 hours per week backfill. The assumption is that practices would recognise the benefit from either retaining or utilising an experienced GP within their practice and participate.
