SMOTHERED Written and Directed by John Schneider Produced by Doug Blake SMOTHERED Written and Directed by John Schneider Produced by Doug Blake LOGLINE Five horror icons ditch an unprofitable autograph signing convention to earn some extra cash haunting an RV park, but find themselves being haunted instead. LONG SYNOPSIS Meet KANE HODDER (himself), 50s, a washed-up horror flick star, tough as a two dollar steak and not making his living selling autographs at horror conventions. Stalked by a disgruntled producer, BUDDY (John Kassir), who wants Kane to make good on an optioned screenplay deal, Kane decides to fly the coop, or in this case Voodoo Con in Baton Rouge. He rallies his cohorts - a motley crew of slasher icons sharing with them a tip that there's 5K to be made haunting a trailer park. They all go to collect their belongings from various cheap motels and/or hiding places, while Kane gases up his Mini Winnie, Thelma, and tie his teepee to her roof. At the gas station, Kane meets and makes a date with an adorable, CHUNKS (Rachel Handler) (he nick-names her that because of her wider stature), who has a smile that could defrost a Frigidaire and a prosthetic leg. RANDY (Dane Rhodes), dignified in Ray Bans and a mullet meets Kane at his Mini Winnie first. They are joined by SOGGY CHRISTIAN (Bill Mosely), and TRIXIE (Shanna Forrestall), a professional blood burlesque dancer with bad skin skin and a nice rack. Next, R.A. MIHAILOFF (himself), sensitive, thick, tromps up with his dog, FRITTER, followed by MALCOLM DANARE (himself), and DON SHANKS (himself), 50s and ripped. They set off into the mountains and arrive at THE REST AT EASE MOTOR COURT & FILLING STATION where a sinewy woman with stringy grey hair named AGNESS (Amy Brassette) almost kills Bill for sneaking around her apartment. Turns out she's Kane's contact for the trailer park haunting. She introduces them to her gorgeous but dead-eyed daughter, DEEDEE (Brea Grant), whom we met in the opening teaser smothering her fiancé CARL (Andrew Bowen) seen only by her stepfather, PEEPER (Edward A. Chambers). Agness pays the gang half their fee up front, and they proceed to the RV park, but not before DeeDee makes a secret date with Don. Upon their arrival, Kane pops one of Thelma's tires going down the steep entry hill. This triggers a series of very unfortunate events which are peppered by habanero moonshine and someone trying to terrorize and terminate our crew. Randy and Kane set about changing Thelma's tire, while Don tries to set up the teepee. In the process Don skewers both Malcolm's foot and a terrified R.A. who has returned from a quick haunting, which accidentally gives an ex-military MOUNTAIN MAN (Ritchie Montgomery) a heart attack. R.A. perishes like a shish-kabob on a stick. With his bad foot, Malcolm runs down to the lake after the runaway spare tire. He grabs a boat, dodges an attack by a snake, and manages to retrieve the tire, but someone/thing pulls him under the water - gone. Meanwhile, Don and Randy find the Mountain Man’s trailer, which just so happens to be booby-trapped, and Randy goes up in flesh melting flames. The next morning Don goes fishing with DeeDee and they find Malcolm’s dead, waterlogged body. DeeDee parts ways with Don and promptly kills Trixie, who’s out for a jog, with a garroting wire, then hooks back up with Don for their secret tryst. They have mad sex, then DeeDee smothers Don with the mattress. Kane & Bill, in their respective mask and razor gloves, catch sight of this and make a run for it, trying to remove their gear, but someone has doused it with super glue. They decide to abandon their haunting mission and leave the RV park, but not before Bill has a shot of Agness’ moonshine to calm his nerves. Unfortunately, it’s been laced with a lethal dose of habanero, which burns Bill’s innards and he accidentally claws himself to death. DeeDee comes to Kane’s rescue and pours gasoline on his face to loosen the mask, but really it’s part of her ploy to cook him. Angry at DeeDee, Agness saves Kane because “you always have to leave one” for the publicity stunt to work, and DeeDee’s almost messed the whole thing up, again. Agness rips Kane’s mask off pulling most of his super-glued face off with it. He manages to hightail it out of there, and call Chucks, while DeeDee paints her mother with peanut butter for the flesh eating ants to chew her mother’s body to bits. Next time we see Kane, he’s back at Voodoo Con, only this time he’s flanked by Buddy and Chunks and a poster that reads, “BIGGEST BOX OFFICE HORROR HIT IN DECADES - STRIPER LIVES!” There’s a line of fans out the door waiting to get his autograph. Who cares if his face is a striped mess of scarred tissue and cartilage and he can’t pronounce most consonants? He’s crying all the way to the bank. ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS John Schneider WRITER/ DIRECTOR John Richard Schneider was born April 8, 1960, in Mt. Kisco, New York, to Shirley and John Schneider III, a pilot and U.S. Air Force veteran. His parents divorced when he was two. John began acting at the age of eight. He was in many plays in New York. He and his mother moved to Atlanta, Georgia, when he was fourteen. He got involved in the local theater and was in many local productions. He had a small part in Smokey and the Bandit (1977) starring Burt Reynolds. His big break came when he won the role of Bo Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard (1979) on CBS from 1979-1985. He auditioned for the role pretending he was a genuine country boy. He had a weeks growth of beard and held a beer can claiming he was from Snellville, Georgia. He later became a very successful country singer and had several hit songs including "I've Been Around Enough To Know" and "Country Girls." He has since opened Faith Works Productions in San Antonio, Texas. He also appears in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993) as Daniel Simon/Red McCall. Doug Blake PRODUCER Doug Blake is a producer and assistant director, known for The Sessions (2012), Coherence (2013) and Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the Thirteenth (2000). Thomas L. Callaway DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY Thomas L. Callaway is known for his work on Feast (2005), Who's Your Caddy? (2007) and Mermaid Chronicles Part 1: She Creature (2001). Joe Pascual EDITOR People often think Joe Pascual's name is Italian. It's actually Spanish, with a Filipino flip, but Pascual himself isn't bothered about it -- he's often taken for Cuban, Venezuelan, Malaysian, Portuguese or even Irish with a decent tan. Like Law & Order's Benjamin Bratt, he has a look that translates into dozens of situations, without his persona being pinned down. And he's got the acting chops to back up that versatility. Born in Manila to a Spanish father and a Filipino mother, he grew up hooked on the American TV beamed in because of local U.S. military bases. "I was the only kid in my neighborhood who didn't have an accent," he recalls."Or, I guess I should say, the only kid with an American accent. Anyway, I was totally hooked on Hollywood and all the movies and shows that came out of it." Joe and his kid sister, Joanne, used to act out the programs they had seen -- a skill that came in handy when their mom, Myrna Pascual, became a TV producer and sometimes needed kids on short notice. Joe was a featured dancer on a show appropriately called DynaKids, and by the time the was 10, was hosting a daytime variety show. Glen Matisoff SOUND EDITOR Glen Matisoff is known for his work on David Blaine: Street Magic (1996), Legends of the Hidden Temple (1993) and Smothered (2014). ABOUT THE CAST Kane Hodder Kane Hodder was born on April 8, 1955 in Auburn, California, USA as Kane Warren Hodder. He is known for his work on Se7en (1995), Monster (2003) and Frozen (2010). Mihailoff is an actor and producer, known for Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990), Hatchet II (2010) and License to Drive (1988). The Genetic Opera (2008) and The Devil's Rejects (2005). His first big role was in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) as Chop Top. On the HBO TV series Carnivàle (2003), Moseley had a recurring role as camp cook Possum. He has also released records with guitarist Buckethead in the band Cornbugs, as well as featuring on the guitarist's solo work. Dane Rhodes Dane is an actor and director in New Orleans La. He has appeared on stages and in films around the world. Some of his favorite experiences have included working on a world premier play called MAcbeth at the Gates with Roy Marsden and his friend David Lumsden and getting to work with John Travolta, Scarlette Johannson, and Shanie Gable on A Love Song for Bobby Long (the movie that launched his journey into film).

  • Hush, Motorsagmassakren, Alien Og Scream Skal Jeg Undersøke Om Rollefiguren Har Endret Seg I Løpet Av Fire Tiår
Antall ord i oppgaven: 38726 i Forord.

  • DIRECTED by MUSICIANS by Bryan Film and Music Are Two Different but Related Areas of Popular Entertainment
MOVIES DIRECTED BY MUSICIANS by Bryan Film and music are two different but related areas of popular entertainment. One interesting way they intersect is in those times when musicians cash in the clout theyʼve built up to get behind the camera. Often itʼs a side project or an experiment, usually it receives some criticism as a vanity project, occasionally it becomes a new career. Here are a few examples of the odd creations that have resulted. 200 MOTELS (Frank Zappa [co-directing with Tony Palmer], 1971) Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention star as themselves in the most psychedelic and nonsensical movie on this list. Featuring Ringo Starr, Keith Moon and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. HUMAN HIGHWAY (Neil Young [co- directing with Dean Stockwell], 1982) Neil Young, Dean Stockwell, Dennis Hopper, Russ Tamblyn, Sally Kirkland and Devo (glowing red with radioactivity) are among the weirdos in this strange story of a diner next a leaking nuclear power plant. TRUE STORIES (David Byrne, 1986) David Byrne stars as a stranger visiting Virgil, Texas for the Celebration of Specialness and encountering oddballs portrayed by the likes of John Goodman, Spalding Gray, Swoosie Kurz, Pops Staples and the voice of Dom DeLuise. This has a soundtrack by the Talking Heads and is the only film on this list included in the Criterion Collection. UNDER THE CHERRY MOON (Prince, 1986) Mr. Rogers Nelsonʼs directorial debut is not as broadly appealing as Purple Rain, and upon release it tied with Howard the Duck for worst picture at The Razzies. As is often the case, they were disastrously wrong, and the movie holds up as a goofy, retro-styled romantic comedy with an all- timer soundtrack (released as the album Parade) including the classics “Kiss” and “Sometimes It Snows in April.” Itʼs shot in beautiful black and white by Michael Ballhaus (between two Scorsese movies) and features the film debut of Kristin Scott Thomas as the Prince characterʼs absolutely charming love interest.

" # $ %&"&' )&*+,,-$ '&* './&" Number Twelve fall 2011 The Shaltzes, The Juggalo IX‚, 2010, archival inkjet print, 24 × 36". American Juggalo Kent Russell ’d been driving for seventeen hours, much of it on two-lane I highways through Indiana and then southern Illinois. Red-green corn sidled closer to the road until it stooped over both shoulders. That early in the morning, a mist was tiding in the east. I figured I had to be close. A couple of times I turned off the state road to drive past family plots where the houses were white, right-angled ideals. On many of these plots were incongruous strips of grass—home- spun cemeteries. I wondered what it would be like to grow up in a place like this. Your livelihood would surround you, waving hello every time the wind picked up. You wouldn’t be able to see your neighbors, but you’d for sure know who they were. You’d go to one of the Protestant churches seeded in the corn, take off your Sunday best to shoot hoops over the garage, and drink an after-dinner beer on your porch swing, certain of your regular Americanness. And one day you’d get buried feet from where you lived, worked, and died. Doubt about the trip unfurled inside me as the odometer crawled on. I couldn’t have told you why I was doing this. Back on IL-1 I looked to my right and saw an upside-down SUV in the corn.

  • The Contemporary American Horror Film Remake, 2003-2013
RE-ANIMATED: THE CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN HORROR FILM REMAKE, 2003-2013 Thesis submitted by Laura Mee In partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of Doctor of Philosophy De Montfort University, March 2014 Abstract This doctoral thesis is a study of American horror remakes produced in the years 2003-2013, and it represents a significant academic intervention into an understanding of the horror remaking trend. It addresses the remaking process as one of adaptation, examines the remakes as texts in their own right, and situates them within key cultural, industry and reception contexts. It also shows how remakes have contributed to the horror genre’s evolution over the last decade, despite their frequent denigration by critics and scholars. Chapter One introduces the topic, and sets out the context, scope and approach of the work. Chapter Two reviews the key literature which informs this study, considering studies in adaptation, remaking, horror remakes specifically, and the genre more broadly. Chapter Three explores broad theoretical questions surrounding the remake’s position in a wider culture of cinematic recycling and repetition, and issues of fidelity and taxonomy. Chapter Four examines the ‘reboots’ of one key production company, exploring how changes are made across versions even as promotion relies on nostalgic connections with the originals. Chapter Five discusses a diverse range of slasher film remakes to show how they represent variety and contribute to genre development. Chapter Six considers socio-political themes in 1970s horror films and their contemporary post-9/11 remakes, and Chapter Seven focuses on gender representation and recent genre trends in the rape-revenge remake.

WHERE I AM, THERE (SH)IT WILL BE: QUEER PRESENCE IN POST MODERN HORROR FILMS by MELANIE MCDOUGALD Under the Direction of Margaret Mills Harper ABSTRACT This paper will consider the function of queer space and presence in the post modern horror film genre. Beginning with George Romero‟s 1968 film Night of the Living Dead and continuing through to contemporary examples of the genre, the paper posits the function of the queer monster or monstrous as integral to and representative of the genre as a whole. The paper analyzes both the current theory and scholarship of the genre and through Lacanian psychoanalytic theory and queer theory offers a theory of how these theories can add to existing theory
