EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION As on 01.07.2020 Candidates should possess the following qualification: Sl. Name of the post Qualification No. 1 Assistant Engineer ( Civil) Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or) Civil & Structural Engineering. Note:- (i) The Qualification prescribed should have been obtained by passing the required qualification in the order of studies i.e. 10th + HSC / Diploma + U.G. Degree as the case may be from any university or institution, recognized by the University Grants Commission or any of the Universities recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu. (ii) KNOWLEDGE OF TAMIL:- Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of Tamil on the date of this Notification. Explanation For this purpose, a person will be deemed to possess an adequate knowledge in Tamil in the case of a post for which Educational Qualification prescribed is the minimum general educational Qualification and above he/she must have passed the SSLC/HSC/Degree etc., with Tamil as one of the languages or studied the High school course in Tamil medium and passed the SSLC Public examination in Tamil medium. All eligible candidates including the candidates sponsored by the Employment Exchange, and Open Market candidates shall apply through online to appear in the competitive online examination. The selection for all the above posts will be strictly based on the competitive online examination, interview and rule of reservation only (as per communal roster). 5. NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE Those who are presently working in Government / Undertakings and are willing to appear for TAHDCO Service Online Examination has to produce a NOC in the format prescribed below subject to the conditions given note(in Annexure – I) Sl.No. CATEGORY OF CANDIDATES Requirement 1 SC,SC(A),ST,MBC/DNC,BC(O), who have put in five years and BC(M) and Destitute Widows more of service in the State must of all castes provide No Objection Certificate 4 Note : “Others” i.e Applicants not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DNCs, BC(BCMs) who have put in five years and more of service in the State are not eligible as per Section 3(r) and Section 20(8) of Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016. Applicants belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DNCs, BC(BCMs) who have put in five years and more of service in the State must provide No Objection Certificate. 6. GENERAL INFORMATION: A. The Rule of reservation of appointments is applicable to the post and the distribution of vacancies will be in accordance with law. B. In G.O. (Ms.) No.145, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (S) Department, dated 30.09.2010, and G.O.(Ms.) No.40, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (S) Department, dated 30.04.2014 the Government have issued orders to fill up 20% of all vacancies in Direct Recruitment on preferential basis to persons who studied the prescribed qualification in Tamil Medium. The 20% reservation of vacancies on preferential allotment to Persons studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) is applicable for this recruitment. (Candidates claiming under the category reservation should have studied the prescribed qualification for the post in Tamil Medium and should have to produce the certificate for the same. Having Online examinations in Tamil language alone will not qualify for claiming this reservation). If the candidates with PSTM are not available for selection for appointment against reserved turn such turn shall be filled up by Non-PSTM candidates but belonging to the respective communal category. The PSTM reservation certificate, shall be produced by the candidate in prescribed format / proforma obtained from the last studied Head of the Institution / Registrar/ Principal (Annexure – II) C. Persons who belong to the Communities specified in Annexure-III of State of Tamil Nadu alone shall be treated as persons belong to communities mentioned in the notification. D. Women alone shall be appointed to the post in specially provided for them: Provided that men may be appointed, if suitable and qualified women are not available for such appointment. E. CERTIFICATE OF PHYSICAL FITNESS:- Candidates selected for appointment to the post to produce a certificate of physical fitness from the Medical Officer of rank as stipulated by TAHDCO. 5 F. The Differently Abled persons should produce a copy of certificate of physical fitness specifying the nature of physical handicapness and the degree of disability based on the norms laid down, from the Medical Board to the effect that his/her handicap will not render him/her incapable of efficiently discharging the duties attached to the post to which he/she has been selected before appointment when called for by TAHDCO. G. Even after filling up of the posts reserved for SC Arunthathiyars on preferential basis, if more number of qualified Arunthathiyars are available, they shall be entitled to compete with the Scheduled Castes other than Arunthathiyars in the inter-se merit among them and if any posts reserved for Arunthathiyars remain unfilled for want of adequate number of qualified candidates, it shall be filled up by Scheduled Castes other than Arunthathiyars. H. Correct and true information regarding arrest, convictions / debarment / disqualification by any recruiting agency, criminal or any disciplinary proceedings initiated or finalised, participation in agitation or any Political Organisation, candidature in election for Parliament /State Legislature / Local Bodies etc, if any, should also be furnished to the TAHDCO at the time of application i.e.

The District is bounded by Tirunelveli District on the North and the east. • The South Eastern boundary is flanked by Gulf of Mannar. On the South and the South West, the boundaries are the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. On the West and North West it is bound by Kerala State. • The District lies between 8o 03' and 8o 35' N Latitude, 77o 15' and 77o 36' E Longitude and has an areal extent of 1684 sq.km. • There are 9 Blocks, 95 Villages and 1384 Habitations in the District. Physiography and Drainage: • The major river in the district is Kuzhithuraiar. • This river has got two major distributaries namely Kodayar and Paralayar. There are many tributaries for Kodayar River and among them are Chittar I and Chittar II rivers. • The origin of Kodayar River is Western Ghats and the river confluences with Arabian Sea near Thengaipattanam, at a distance of about 56 Km. west of Cape Comorian, the southernmost tip of India. • Valliar, another small river and its tributary Thoovalar, originates from Velimalai Hills, and confluences with Arabian Sea near Manavalakurichi.
