  • Men at Play: Remote Control the Head of the Carrera Slot-Car Racing Brand Regularly Invites Friends for a Men’S Day
newsroom Scene and Passion Aug 3, 2017 Men at play: Remote control The head of the Carrera slot-car racing brand regularly invites friends for a men’s day. Gentle waves crinkle the surface of Lake Attersee. Dark clouds frame the panorama of the nearby Höllengebirge mountain range. A few minutes later, a rainbow spans the lake. It’s as pretty as a postcard. Andreas Stadlbauer strips off the protective film on the Carrera Control Unit, the heart of the slot-car track, for use. The rest can get wet. Stadlbauer has invited friends for a men’s day in the yard of his vacation home in Upper Austria. The only item on the day’s agenda: playing. It’s no easy task to outgun the host when he has the controller in his hand, but that doesn’t stop four friends from trying again every summer. Stadlbauer’s friendly rivals are Helmut Eggert, member of the executive board of Porsche Import (Porsche Austria), insurance broker Thomas Matzelberger, and Robert and Walter Lechner, owners of the Lechner Racing School, one of the most successful racing talent incubators in Europe. The men are united in part by friendships stretching back to the days of their youth and by a passion for motorsports on every scale, both privately and professionally. Page 1 of 4 Andreas Stadlbauer (left) and his friends with their Carrera track The twenty-five-meter-long Carrera track wends its way around the yard on the shores of the lake, which is popular with sailing enthusiasts. • These Porsche Cars Saw the Light of Day in Geneva Geneva Is the Major Stage for Spectacular Porsche Innovations Since 1949: from 356 to Mission E Cross Turismo
newsroom History Mar 4, 2019 These Porsche cars saw the light of day in Geneva Geneva is the major stage for spectacular Porsche innovations since 1949: from 356 to Mission E Cross Turismo. A journey into the past. Porsche celebrates a historic moment at the Geneva Motor Show, which takes place from 7 to 17 March 2019: precisely 70 years ago, the young brand introduced itself to an international public audience for the first time. That spectacular première would be followed by many more over the decades – in each case with the sportiest models of the era, in a Porsche tradition that has been upheld right up to today. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of its debut in Geneva, the sports car manufacturer will present the eighth generation of the iconic 911, in Cabriolet form; at the same time, the 718 Cayman T and 718 Boxster T will also celebrate their world première. 70 years ago, on 17 March 1949, it was the 356 Coupé and the 356 Cabriolet from the series production of Gmünd (Austria) that Porsche presented at its small stand in the main hall. The response was fantastic, with both sports cars enthusiastically received. The successful showing in Switzerland is considered to be the foundation for the later breakthrough of the first series products from Zuffenhausen: by 1965, a total of around 78,000 units of the 356 had been built. Page 1 of 4 The 356 made its first international appearance in Geneva in 1949 The Geneva Motor Show has a reputation for being the largest motor show in the world; a claim forged during the 1960s in particular.
