Staffing Arrangements 2020-21

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this letter finds you safe and well. It has been a busy time in school with groups of pupils from EYFS, Y1, Y6 and our keyworker pupils. The re-opening has gone incredibly well and it has been so wonderful to see those pupils who are currently attending school with big smiles on their faces. Our teachers have been keeping in touch via Class Dojo or telephone with you all and it has been amazing to see photographs and examples of all your home learning – keep it up!

No doubt you will have been following the news and daily briefings and will be thinking about the end to this academic year for your child(ren), including transition. We are currently working with the Central Team and other primary schools in the Trust to consider ways of making this work so that we keep everyone safe. As soon as arrangements have been confirmed we will let you know. At the same time we are also working with the teaching staff to organise classes for next year. Our priority this year is to ensure consistency for pupils and where possible we will keep classes together as they move up to their new year groups.

We would like to let you know that at the end of the summer term we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Sarah Rowland (Assistant Headteacher) who will be leaving to start a very exciting new chapter after almost twenty years at our amazing school. Mrs Rowland will be greatly missed and she has taught so many of our pupils. Miss Kemp will also be moving on at the end of the summer term to start the next phase of her teaching career and we wish her lots of luck, she will be missed by staff and pupils. We are very excited to announce that Mr Higginson has been offered a new role as Key Stage 2 Lead in a school in and Mrs Dommett recently accepted a secondment within the Trust as an EYFS teacher at Charborough Road Primary School. I know you will join us in wishing them luck as they embark on exciting new chapters. #TeamSLP will not be the same without you all!

As this will leave a number of teaching vacancies across the school we would like to introduce three new members of #TeamSLP from September who we are very excited for you all to meet!

Miss Jessica Bell

Fun Facts:

I have a love for the theatre that started at the age of 4. Since then I have performed in many different plays and musicals and have even been lucky enough to perform at Disneyland Paris!

I really enjoy being creative and love drawing and painting. During lockdown I have spent a lot of time working on my Sapphire Power (responsibility) to focus on creating new pieces of art.

I also love visiting new countries and places and make the most of my spare time by exploring new destinations. When I visit a new place, I take lots of lovely pictures. Mr favourite city (other than ) is Barcelona.

Miss Sian Carrington

Fun Facts:

I absolutely love hiking, running, reading and creative writing.

I used my Emerald Power (resilience) when completing the Nation Three Peak Challenge in under 24 hours for charity (climbed to the summits of Ben Nevis, Snowdown and Scafell Pike)… it was tough but I didn’t give up.

I travelled around Australia for a year and taught two children in outback Australia for three months. Whilst there I lived on a remote sheep farm, three hours from civilisation!

I am half-Welsh and know how to speak a few words in Welsh.

Miss Chloe Tillson

Fun Facts:

The largest class I have ever taught had 60 children in! The school was in Dundee, South Africa whilst volunteering. It was an amazing experience. We had to use our Amethyst Power (collaboration) to work together in a very large team.

The time I had to use my Emerald Power most was when I did a parachute jump out of an aeroplane in Durban, South Africa.

At secondary school I was Head Girl.

In my spare time I play women’s cricket as the wicket keeper.

Just like Mr Ferris, I really love to sing and dance and once performed in a local performance of Calamity Jane!

In September we will be running one EYFS class. This year the mixed Y1/2 classes have been working well and we will continue to use this model with each class being supported by a class teacher and a HLTA. Each class will have a link HLTA to provide teachers with more capacity to split-teach and work with smaller groups. From September this year group will be led by Mrs Carolyn Paske.

Pupils who are moving from Y2 into Y3 will be split into three classes to help us support them effectively with their transition to KS2. From September this year group will be led by Mrs Trudi Johnson.

Please find the list of classes for September over the page. As soon as classes have been confirmed we will let you know.
