5-14.6.2019 WASHINGTON D.C. • On June 11, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze met with the Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and delivered the opening remarks at the plenary session of the U.S.- Strategic Partnership Commission. In recognition of enduring relationship the sides adopted 10th Anniversary Joint Declaration on the U.S. – Georgia Strategic Partnership Charter. Meetings were held with the National Security Adviser to the President of the United States, Ambassador John Bolton and representatives of the U.S. Congress. • As part of the visit Prime Minister met representatives of the leading U.S. companies in San Francisco, Seattle and Dallas. • In their public remarks, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the milestones of the U.S. – Georgia strategic partnership and expressed readiness to bring the relationship to the next level at the 3rd annual U.S. Georgia Strategic Partnership Conference held at the United States Institute of Peace on June 12, 2019 7-14.6.2019 MONTREAL • Mamuka Bakhtadze attended International Economic Forum of the Americas in Montreal. Bakhtadze draw attention to Georgia’s strategic location, its perspectives as the economic hub of “logistics, international business, tourism, education and technologies”. MORE President Zourabichvili Participated in the ILO Centenary Conference 10-11.06.2019 GENEVA • President paid a working visit to Geneva to participate in the 108th session of the International Labour Conference, dedicated to 100th Anniversary of the Establishment of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and delivered a speech during the high-level segment of the Conference. During the visit President Zourabichvili held bilateral meetings with Guy Ryder, Director-General of the ILO, Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Michael Møller, Director- General of the United Nations Office in Geneva, Roberto Azevedo, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, and Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization. • Discussed: The implementation and development of European standards in labour, human rights and humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, economic environment of Georgia, reforms in health system of Georgia, the global trade system, and existing challenges. MORE Slovenia Recognizes Georgia as a Safe Country of Origin 13.06.2019 The Government of the Republic of Slovenia added Georgia to the list of safe countries of origin. Thus, Slovenia became the 14th country in the EU/Schengen zone to recognize Georgia as a safe country. Slovenia’s decision provides yet another proof of the country’s political stability, economic development and positive environment for human rights protection and safety. MORE
