John Malone Studio Rules and Regulations

1. All techniques learned at JMKS are to be used for self-defense only.

2. Always remember rule No. 1!

3. Absolutely no profanity.

4. No food in the studio.

5. No gum/candy when working out.

6. Shoes are not to be worn on the work out area.

7. Fingernails and toenails must be kept short.

8. No jewelry is to be worn- smooth round wedding band is the exception.

9. A student must wear the proper uniform to class and it must be neat and clean.

10. Permission must be given to join or leave a class that is in progress.

11. 10 push-ups will be required for: joining a late class, not having a belt or correct

uniform

12. Students may not ask or challenge a higher-ranking belt to free spar; the instructor

will set all matches.

13. A student’s readiness to test for promotion is at the full discretion of the

instructor.

14. All class and other fees must be current to be eligible to test for promotion.

**Failure to follow the rules can lead to personal injury. Also, failure to obey studio rules can result in suspension or dismissal from the studio.

1st Set of Required Combinations

1. Jab, reverse punch, ridge hand (lead hand). 2. Jab, front kick (lead leg), reverse punch. 3. Jab, side kick (lead leg), reverse punch. 4. Jab, round kick (lead leg), ridge hand (back hand).

2nd Set of Required Combinations

1. Front kick (back leg), round kick (back leg), reverse punch. 2. Round kick (lead leg), offensive step, side kick (lead leg), reverse punch. 3.Round kick (back leg), spin , ridge hand (back hand).

3rd Set of Required Combinations

1. Jab, offensive step, jab, front spinning sidekick, reverse punch. 2. Heal kick (lead leg), round kick (back leg), spin sidekick, reverse punch. 3. Round kick (lead leg), spin sidekick, round kick (back leg), ridge hand (back hand).

4th Set of Required Combinations

1. Spin heal kick, round kick (back leg), reverse punch. 2. Heal kick (lead leg), front kick (back leg), spin heal kick, reverse punch. 3. Round kick (lead leg), front spin inside crescent, spin heel, ridge hand (back hand)

5th Set of Required Combinations

1. Spin outside crescent, reverse punch, round kick (back leg), reverse punch. 2. Sidekick (lead leg), jump side kick (lead leg), reverse punch, 3. Jump round kick (back leg), spin heal kick, ridge hand (back hand).

12 Movements

1. Left High Block. Chamber left hand on bottom with knuckles facing down, right hand on top with knuckles facing up. Left hand comes up to block and right hand goes to hip.

2. Right High Block. Chamber right hand on bottom with knuckles facing down, left hand on top with knuckles facing up. Right hand comes up to block and left hand goes to hip.

3. Left Inside Chest Block. Left arm comes up to the side with fist positioned so that if the hand were open the palm would be facing outward, right arm extends in front with fist closed, left arm comes across the chest and right hand comes in to the hip.

4. Right Inside Chest Block. Right arm comes up to the side with fist positioned so that if the hand were open the palm would be facing outward, left arm extends in front with fist closed, right arm comes across chest and left hand comes in to the hip.

5. Left Outside Chest Block. Left hand on bottom, knuckles facing up, right hand on top with knuckles facing up. Left hand blocks to outside (like making a muscle) and right hand to hip.

6. Right Outside Chest Block. Right hand on bottom, knuckles facing up, left hand on top with knuckles facing up. Right hand blocks to outside (like making a muscle) and left hand to hip.

7. Left Low Block. Right arm goes straight down, left hand goes to right ear. Left arm blocks down and right hand goes to hip.

8. Right Low Block. Left arm stays down, right hand goes to left ear. Right arm blocks down and left hand goes to hip.

9. Left Knife Hand Block. Right arm extends in front with hand open, left hand goes to right ear with hand open. Left hand blocks in front with arm bent, hand open, and right hand goes to hip.

10. Right Knife Hand Block. Left arm extends in front with hand open, right hand goes to left ear with hand open. Right hand blocks in front with arm bent, hand open, left hand goes to hip.

Pad Drills 6 Count Drill Left foot is forward. Execute left jab, right reverse punch, left hook, right under punch, left hook, and right cross.

7 Count Drill Left foot is forward. Execute left jab, right reverse punch, left hook, left back-fist, right under punch, left hook, and right cross.

8 Count Drill Left foot is forward. Execute left jab, right reverse punch, left hook, spin back-fist, left hook, right under punch, left hook, and right cross.

12 Count Drill Left foot is forward. Execute left jab, right reverse punch, left hook, right under punch, left hook, right cross, tournament round kick with the back leg (foot landing in front), right back fist, left hook, right under punch, left hook, and right cross.

6 Point Drill Left Fighting (elbows done with right arm) 1. Across elbow 2. Side elbow 3. High behind elbow 4. Low behind elbow 5. Rear upward elbow 6. Front upward elbow 7. Front downward elbow

Phase

1. Left foot is forward. Jump straight up and kick with the back leg.

2. Right foot is forward. Fake with the back leg kick with the front leg.

3. Left foot is forward. Step through with the back leg then fake with the left leg and kick with the right leg. (This one is used for gaining distance.)

4. Right foot is forward. Jump straight up and kick with the lead leg.

5. Left foot is forward. Slide the back foot up to meet the front foot, fake with the left leg kick with the right leg.

6. Left foot is forward. Shuffle step (or stutter step) fake with left leg kick with right leg.

**In all of the phase kicks you will be kicking with the right leg (no matter which foot is forward).**

**The shuffle step or stutter step is done by switching just the feet and keeping the upper body the same (the left shoulder should stay forward when your feet switch)**

**When faking before a kick, the that you fake with must be up high like a front kick chamber in order to be effective**

ONE STEPS

Basic

1. Step left foot back at a forty-five degree angle into a back stance and execute a right knife hand, grab opponent's wrist with the right hand and do a right round kick to the midsection - Kiai! 2. Step right foot back at a forty-five degree angle into a back stance and execute left outside chest block, shift into forward stance executing right palm strike to nose - Kiai! 3. Step right foot straight back into a back stance and execute left high block, shift into forward stance executing right reverse punch to midsection - Kiai! 4. Chamber for right inside chest block, step left foot back into a and execute inside chest block, lunge forward still in a horse stance and execute bottom fist to the head - Kiai! 5. Step left foot back at a forty-five degree angle into a back stance and execute right low block, shift into forward stance left reverse punch to the head.

Intermediate

1. Step left foot back at a forty-five degree angle into a back stance and execute right knife hand, grab their wrist with right hand and execute right round kick to midsection, left under punch to solar plexus in a forward stance, right elbow to head in back stance, grab your own left wrist with right hand execute left reinforced elbow to head - Kiai! 2. Step right foot back at a forty-five degree angle into a back stance and execute left outside chest block, shift into forward stance right palm strike to nose, left counter rotation jab, jumping front kick with lead leg to face - Kiai! 3. Step right foot straight back into a back stance and execute left high block, shift into forward stance right reverse punch to solar plexus, side kick lead leg to midsection, spin back kick to midsection - Kiai! 4. Chamber for right inside chest block, step left foot back into a horse stance executing inside chest block, lunge forward (remaining in a horse stance) bottom fist to head, step right foot back into a horse stance executing left bottom fist to head, spin right bottom fist to head, left reverse punch to face - Kiai! 5. Step left foot back at a forty-five degree angle into a back stance and execute right low block, shift into forward stance left reverse punch, right elbow to head in back stance, right bottom fist to head, shift into forward stance left reverse punch to midsection - Kiai!

Advanced

1. Step left foot back at a 45 degree angle into a back stance executing right knife hand, grab opponent's wrist with right hand, right round kick to solar plexus, turn opponent's wrist over with right hand, left bottom fist to elbow breaking the arm (while still holding opponent's wrist), grab opponent's shoulder with left hand, pull back opponent's shoulder and their foot with left foot at same time causing them to go down, left side kick to throat - Kiai! 2. Step right foot back at a 45 degree angle into a back stance executing left outside chest block, leaving the block up: execute right palm strike to nose, wrap opponent's arm with left arm creating an arm bar and grab their with right hand, step right foot closely behind their lead leg, turn their head with right hand at the same time locking right leg behind their leg creating a sweep and causing them to go down, figure four arm lock from side control, right reverse punch to face - Kiai! 3. Step right foot straight back into a back stance executing left high block, shift into forward stance right reverse punch, bring hands up and execute side kick lead leg to midsection, jump spin back kick to midsection - Kiai! 4. Chamber for right inside chest block, step left foot back into a horse stance executing inside chest block, lunge forward right bottom fist to head (still in horse stance), slide right foot over into forward stance executing left under:- punch to solar plexus, side kick lead leg to midsection, lunge down to ground and execute ground technique to opponent's leg causing them to go down (sweep with right heel behind their knee and left foot wrapped around ankle - similar to scissor sweep but this sweep only sweeps one leg), use both hands to push yourself to opponent, execute right re-enforced elbow to back, right back fist to back of head - Kiai! 5. Step left foot back at a 45 degree angle into a back stance executing right low block, shift into forward stance left reverse punch, round kick lead leg to midsection, lunge down to ground and execute scissor sweep, axe kick to back - Kiai!
