Perry. Band has participated in several events on Sunday, Oct. 14 it helped dedicate the new Bowling Green airport. Hopes to have a marching band soon. Perry, who said: "In 1932 the band played only simple marches and overtures. Now we play standard symphonic works in a manner that would do credit to any musical organization. Our present enrollment also includes about a dozen members who have more national recognition through their performance on their instruments." Organized again in Dec. 1926, Dr. Strahm as head of it. Girls removed in 1930, formed their own band in June 1931. 1935 - 110 piece band played at Kentucky Derby. 1978 - 75 piece band played at Kentucky Derby. This year - 170 members. Will be its first out-of-state trip since 1976. 6 concerts. Hasn't performed off campus since 1980 because of tight money situation. Sledge, American National Bank, Bowling Green, to Henry Cherry Oct. 14, 1926 - Isn't sure that his bank is getting its fair share of WKU's deposit. Reminds that the 2 banks are to divide it equally. WKU - Notecards - Banking Institute 1983 College Heights Herald, Jan. 11, 1983 - Banking Institute 1983 - https://digitalcommons.wku.edu/dlsc_ua_records/533/ Banking Kentucky bankers signed contract with WKU Thursday to set up a summer Kentucky Bank Management Institute Corporation. Says it will involve WKU's finance Curriculum faculty and benefit students in that area. Dean Robert Nelson: - ". a damn lie. These bankers have never used any of our faculty. In addition, the bankers think their money is going for Western's students, but we've never seen a penny of it." Some of faculty didn't even know of it until after the contract was signed. Nelson: "It's like we were on a different planet as far as they (the bankers) are concerned." Clayton Riley said it came up quickly. Says most teachers in it will be bankers, not professors. It has purchased lot at 15th & State streets for Religion $10,000. The 1 story building will cost $23,000. A second unit, to form an L, will be built later. He worked well with students; students just loved him because they could unload his problems on him. For instance, I never will forget George Lily, who's currently teaching at Murray State. In fact, he's head of their Industrial Education department now. One day George was all upset - and incidentally, he had a little problem with one of the teachers in the History department.
