ubikman June 9, 2016  One of the great electronic/synth'pop' albums of its era, criminally underrated and historically ignored. Lewis created this during a time when Wire was more deeply incorporating electronics, advanced studio technique ("studioasinstrument"), and digital production into a music that was moving farther & farther away from traditional 'rock' mores (not that Wire cared a whit for anything traditional throughout their career, mind you). Working with the likes of Paul Kendall and Adrian Sherwood further expanded Lewis's own already complex ideas of rhythm & sonic texture, and "Take Care" has that in spades. All the tracks possess Lewis's unique compositional skills; the sheer volume of original sound and beat patterns on display is simply breathtaking. The prior album, "Hail", laid the groundwork for this one to be sure, but truth be told, "Take Care" is his uncanny masterpiece.
