After a 35-year career of teaching the martial art, O’Kelly has retired. A Saranac Lake resident, O’Kelly opened the Northeast Taekwondo school in this village in Sept. 2016. On Saturday, he performed his final duty as the head of the school, pro - moting 19 local students to black belts during an outdoor ceremony held on the North Country Commu - nity College soccer field. O’Kelly said all 19 who were promoted were original students of the Saranac Lake-based school when it opened nearly four years ago, and the youngest new black belt earner was 9-year-old Cole Davide. The ceremony was held on a chilly, damp day with plenty of space between the students, who all wore matching black facemasks that included an image of a martial artist. The day began with testing and ended with the handing out of black belts and certificates. O’Kelly said Easton Crary is presented his black belt by Northeast Taek - he was especially impressed with wondo school instructor Grand Master Jon O’Kelly. the display by his students because the school has been shut down for itself.” he said.

Buffalo Sabres Daily Press Clips December 31, 2019 Playoff-bound Bills force Sabres’ scheduling change Saturday By John Wawrow Associated Press December 30, 2019 BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills and Sabres fans need not worry. They’ll get a chance to see both of their teams play Saturday. The Sabres announced their home game against the Florida Panthers has been moved to 1 p.m. to alleviate any conflict with the Bills playing at Houston in an AFC wild-card game at 4:35 p.m. The Sabres game was initially set to start at 7 p.m., which would have overlapped with the end of the Bills game. The change was made Monday, a day after the NFL released its playoff schedule, and made easier because the Bills and Sabres are both owned by Terry and Kim Pegula. Kim Pegula thanked the Panthers for agreeing to the time change. Florida will be in the midst of a four-game road trip, and has a day off before playing at Buffalo. The Panthers then travel to play Pittsburgh on Sunday. “Buffalo has a great tradition of all of our teams and fans supporting each other,” Kim Pegula said. “And we want to make sure we can accommodate everyone the best way possible.” The game against the Panthers is notable, because the Sabres are welcoming back more than 20 alumni from their 1990s teams as part of the franchise’s year-long 50th anniversary celebration. • John Mellas with My Thesis I Am Looking to Reform the Programmatic
John Mellas WIth my thesis I am looking to reform the programmatic space of a sports stadium, in particular the Bills Stadium, New Era Field. A typical stadium, like the Buffalo Bills New Era Field, only gets used 8 times a year for the 8 home games played each NFL season. If you break it down further, in each of those 8 games the stadium is only being used roughly 4-5 hours a day. So over the course of a year, the Bills Stadium gets used around 36-40 hours for its intended purpose. With this Bibliography, I hope to gain a base knowledge of Public Space, Sports Stadiums, and Multi Purpose Spaces that will enable me to formulate my project to reshape the program space of the Bills Stadium, New Era Field and the coexistence of programs in reprogramming stadiums. PUBLIC ARCHITECTURE upload.wikimedia.org 1. Glazer, Lilla (1987) The Public Face of Architecture. London, Collier Macmillan Publishers Throughout history there have been many forms of public architecture, but they all try to accomplish a similar task: how to make space that all people can and would use. For public architecture to work it is really in its best interest to be a reflection of the culture of the time. As the culture changes, so does the most impactful public architecture. In early history, the town center and market was key. In the middle ages, the Church and square around the Church. In today’s culture we have the ever expanding stadium. As the culture evolves and the ideologies of the time progress or regress, it is a clear depiction of the state of our culture at that time in history.

I have been a part of Model UN for 3 years and have gone to a few high school conferences and two college conferences which includes NAIMUN and WMHSMUN (Georgetown and William & Mary). It was very interesting to hear different things from people across the country instead of the state. I know that we can have a very good discussion on the topic today as NFL CTE. Please send me your position papers at my email address below so that I may consider them for awards.
