Written by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, Moneyball, The Social Network, A Few Good Men), this fast-talking, witty drama tells the story of two men locked in an epic competition to lay claim to the most influential invention of the last century: The television! A true David-and-Goliath battle between Philo Farnsworth, a young Idaho farm boy, and David Sarnoff, an enterprising Russian immigrant and CEO of RCA, THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION will captivate audiences with its remarkable tale of scientific discovery, double-dealings, and corporate espionage. THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION will run for 3 performances on September 12th and 13th led by director Nathan Shewell. All performances will take place in the North Central High School Performing Arts Classroom located at 1801 E 86th Street in Indianapolis. Tickets are now on sale by ordering online at www.NorthCentralTheatre.us About THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION: It’s not every day that a fourteen-year-old boy living on a farm in Idaho comes up with an invention that completely revolutionizes everything about the modern world – but that’s exactly what Philo T. Farnswoth did when he invented the television. David Sarnoff, the son of Russian emigrants and CEO of RCA, soon became aware of Farnswoth’s invention knew a good thing when he saw it But as scientific discovery becomes a race to market, and allegations of theft become lawsuits, the true inventor of “television” becomes harder to identify. Aaron Sorkin treats material with sensitivity to both sides, allowing the audience to make their own decisions about who’s right, who’s wrong, and what lies in between. The cast features Joey Mervis and George Clark and includes (in alphabetical order) Ashleigh Baker, Elyse Collins, Matt Conwell, Cormac Doebbling, Hope Fennig, Grace Freese, Katie Haan, Vacketta Herzog, Aaron Johnson, Annie Krueger, D’shon Mansfield, Isaiah Moore, Sophie Pierce, Erin Poulsen, Allie Prein, Joseph Schingle, Jamie Wann, Tlotlo Westmoreland, Jack Williams and Allie Wineland. North Central Theatre’s 57th season continues in November with THE DROWSEY CHAPERONE; a musical within a comedy, WINTER ONE-ACTS 2015; student directed shorts and in April with William Shakespeare's most popular comedy; A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. In addition, throughout the school year, the North Central High School Repertory Theatre class will perform in various BLACK BOX PRODUCTIONS; a series of one-night-only, acting focused performances. www.NorthCentralTheatre.us .
