The Master of Science degree in Technology Management launched with an initial enrollment of 22 students. Twenty of the 22 new students received their undergraduate degree from Farmingdale State College. o One‐half earned their BS degree in Electrical Engineering; 20% in Mechanical Engineering Technology and 10% each in Construction Management Engineering Technology, Automotive Management Technology and Facility Management Technology. Though ethnically diverse, this program is predominantly male and slightly more are attending on a part‐ time basis than a full‐time basis (55% vs. 45%). Undergraduate Students Total undergraduate enrollment has increased by 317 students, or 3.4%, over 2016. New student enrollment ‐ first‐time to college and external transfers – dropped slightly but continuing and returning students more than made up the difference. Our first‐time, full‐time bachelor’s degree seeking student one year retention rate improved to 83% from 81% in the previous year. Farmingdale’s 3.4% increase in undergraduate enrollment from Fall 2016 to Fall 2017 is the largest percentage increase in undergraduate enrollment in the SUNY Technology sector. The percentage of full‐time students increased to 78% of the total undergraduate student population – a more than 2 ppt jump from last year. Over ninety‐six percent of all first‐time students are full‐time. The average High School GPA of our incoming freshmen improved to 88.7 from 88.2 in Fall 2016. The average SAT score was 1097. The College Board has completely revamped the SAT Test and we can no longer compare to previous year’s scores. Enrollment by students of Hispanic origin showed a large increase of nearly 2 ppts to 20%. The top five baccalaureate curriculums with the largest percentage increases in enrollment over 2016 are Computer Engineering Technology, Global Business Management; Manufacturing Engineering Technology; Industrial Technology, and Electrical Engineering Technology. The most popular curriculums among new first‐time students are Liberal Arts & Science (39%), Science, Technology & Society (8%), and Business Management (7%). Science, Technology & Society (21%) and Business Management (14%) remain the top two curriculums into which new transfer students enrolled. The top three feeder high schools are Farmingdale High School, Massapequa High School, and North Babylon High School. However, Amityville High School, West Babylon High School, and North Babylon High School had the highest percentages of accepted students who registered. The top colleges that students transferred in from are Suffolk County Community (374), Nassau Community (316), Stony Brook University (51), CUNY Queensborough Community College (41) and Long Island University – CW Post (36). 3 Fall 2017 College Enrollment Total Student Body Graduate Students Undergraduate Students Total Enrollment 9574 22 9552 Full-time 7417 10 7407 Part-time 2157 12 2145 Bachelor Degree 7510 7510 Associate Degree 1406 1406 Master's Degree 22 22 Matriculated 9027 22 9005 Non-Matriculated 547 547 Male 56.91% 95.45% 56.83% Female 43.09% 4.55% 43.17% Average Age - Overall 23 32 23 Average Age - Matriculated 23 32 23 Average Age - Non-Matriculated 26 26 White 57.14% 36.36% 57.19% Hispanic Origin 20.28% 13.64% 20.30% Black or African American 9.70% 18.18% 9.68% Asian 8.36% 13.64% 8.34% 2 or More Races 2.21% 0.00% 2.22% Non-Resident Alien 1.40% 4.55% 1.39% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander 0.32% 4.55% 0.31% American Indian or Alaska Native 0.21% 4.55% 0.20% Unknown/Refuse to Indicate 0.37% 4.55% 0.36% Service Area Suffolk 50.53% 40.91% 50.55% Nassau 38.88% 40.91% 38.87% Queens 5.23% 9.09% 5.22% Kings (Brooklyn) 1.36% 0.00% 1.36% Bronx 0.66% 0.00% 0.66% Westchester 0.44% 0.00% 0.44% Richmond 0.24% 0.00% 0.24% New York (Manhattan) 0.23% 0.00% 0.23% Other 2.43% 9.09% 2.42% Faculty and Staff Full-time Regular Faculty 237 Full-time Staff 494 Total Full-time Employees 731 Undergraduate Student to Faculty Ratio 20:1 Chancellor's Award Winners 132 Staff and 69 Students Distinguished Professors 16 4 GRADUATE STUDENT PROFILE 5 Fall 2017 Graduate Student Enrollment Summary Master of Science Technology Management Full-Time/Part-Time 45% 55% Full Time Part Time Master of Science Technology Management Gender 95% 5% Male Female Master of Science White Technology Management Race/Ethnicity Black or African American Hispanic/Latino 18% Asian 14% Non-resident alien 36% Unknown 14% American Indian or Alaska 5% 4% Native 5% 4% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander Source: SUNY OBIEE 6 Applied, Accepted & Enrolled for Fall 2017 Graduate Students Only decided applications included. • 2009 • 7 Sports Added in the Last Two Seasons Semester
A staple in the New York region and an emerging program on the national stage, the Manhattanville College Athletic Department continues to bolster its reputation as a program on the rise in all areas: athletic achievement, academic success and overall participation. A program-record 305 Valiant student-athletes (nearly 20 percent of the student body) took part in intercollegiate athletics during the 2008- 09 season, showcasing the continued and rapid growth of athletics at Manhattanville. Following the successful integration of the men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track teams last season, the program has expanded to a record 21 intercollegiate teams – including seven new teams established in the last two years alone. And teams at Manhattanville do not just compete, they win. Three Valiant squads (men’s basketball, baseball and men’s tennis) earned Freedom Conference regular-season championships in 2008-09 and both the men’s and women’s hockey teams spent much of the year with national rankings. Sixteen of 21 Valiant teams earned berths in their respective conference tournaments last year, including four conference championship game appearances. In all, Manhattanville teams posted an impressive .548 winning percentage (184-151-6) last season, with two Valiants teams also setting new program records for wins in a single season. On an individual level, many Valiant student-athletes were honored in 2008-09 as well. Men’s hockey forward Chris Trafford and women’s hockey center Holly Nonis became the 15th and 16th Valiants to earn All-American honors following the season, while the pair were two of four players to be named conference Player of the Year.
