Eric Puga Our Guardian Angel. Her name is Lilly and she protects us from not good things and she makes sure we are safe. We know she is always around watching over us. Gia- 9 years old 4th grade John - 7 years old 2nd grade “My guardian angel protected me by helping me remember things, and to not say the Lord’s name in vain. When we looked up the meaning in Hebrews it means “my God is an oath.” Kenzie grade 3 My Guardian Angel doesn't look like someone I know. Her name is Angel Clarisse. My Guardian Angel has helped me many times when I am not sure what to do. For example, she helped me once when one classmate was left alone and no one wanted to play with her because she was new. I wasn't sure I wanted to play with her because my friends were waiting to play with me on the other side of the playground. But I thought it wouldn't be nice to leave my classmate alone so I invited her to play with us, and she was so happy! I felt really good too. -

The Fund’s work focuses particularly on society’s most vulnerable, including low-income people, the uninsured, minority Americans, young children, and elderly adults. The Fund carries out this mandate by supporting independent research on health care issues and making grants to improve health care practice and policy. An international program in health policy is designed to stimulate innovative policies and practices in the United States and other industrialized countries. Among the 11 nations studied in this report—Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States—the U.S. ranks last, as it did in prior editions of Mirror, Mirror. The United Kingdom ranks first, followed closely by Switzerland. Since the data in this study were collected, the U.S. has made significant strides adopting health information technology and undertaking payment and delivery system reforms spurred by the Affordable Care Act. -

Lesson Plan Lesson 10: Applications of Similarity Mathematics High School Math II Unit Name: Unit 5: Similarity, Right Triangle Trigonometry, and Proof Lesson Plan Number & Title: Lesson 10: Applications of Similarity Grade Level: High School Math II Lesson Overview: Having established the conditions under which triangles are similar by formal proof, students will now apply these results in multiple contexts. This lesson is designed for approximately 90 minutes. Students will develop conjectures about the properties of similar triangles that will serve as the basis for the theorems developed throughout the unit. Throughout this unit, two geometric figures are similar if there exists a sequence of rigid transformations followed by a dilation that maps one figure onto the other. Focus/Driving Question: How can the Similarity Theorems be utilized to determine inaccessible lengths and distances? West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards: M.2HS.46 Use congruence and similarity criteria for triangles to solve problems and to prove relationships in geometric figures. Manage the Lesson: Students have measured, described, and transformed triangles through a variety of investigations in previous lessons. In the last lesson they constructed logical and convincing arguments that supported the conjectures that they made about similarity. As students apply the Similarity Theorems to determine inaccessible lengths and distances, they will reinforce their understanding of similarity. It is important for students to realize that finally their knowledge of similarity will be helpful as they analyze and solve new applications. Students will be working in small groups in an outdoor setting to solve some of the application problems in this lesson. -

Prior to the War of 1812, an Indian runner was dispatched with a war belt of wampum with a request for the Dakotas and Chippewas to meet at the big bend of the Wisconsin River (Portage). While camped on the banks of the Lemonweir, the runner dreamed that he had lost his belt of wampum at his last sleeping place. On waking in the morning, he found his dream to be a reality and he hastened back to retrieve the belt. During the 1820's, the French-Canadian fur traders called the river, La memoire - the memory. The Lemonweir rises in the extensive swamps and marshes in Monroe County. -

FROM THE CO-CHAIRS: On Monday, April 26, Senators, Members of Congress and distinguished Washington insiders shared the stage during the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s eighth annual Will on the Hill The Shakespeare Theatre Company gratefully acknowledges benefit. The evening was a rousing success and raised over $267,000 for the theatre’s artistic, education and community the generous support of the following companies and friends engagement programs. who helped make Will on the Hill possible: Students from Charles Flowers High School opened the performance with an excerpt from As You Like It. The students, LEAD SPONSOR who participate in the Company’s Text Alive! program, wowed the audience with their inventive interpretation of the scene and their skillful portrayal of classic Shakespearean characters. Text Alive! is one of the programs supported by Will on the Hill, and it was a treat for the audience to see such an incredible program in action. After the students’ performance, cast members for the main MEDIA SPONSORS EXECUTIVE SPONSOR event took the stage. Senators Roger Wicker and Richard Lugar, joined by 13 Representatives performed in an original production entitled The Play’s the Thing! written by Peter Byrne and directed by STC Associate Artistic Director David Muse. Peter Jacobson, star of the hit TV show “House” and Holly Twyford, prominent D.C. actress, may have had the most theatrical training, but all of DIRECTORS the cast members, including CNN’s Jessica Yellin, BBC America’s Matt Frei, Fox News Correspondent Major Garrett and D.C. CFO Dr. Natwar Gandhi, strutted their acting chops and kept the audience laughing all evening.
